The return of Calchas
Friday, December 16 2016 @ 04:22 PM CST

...Gee... Sounds weird when one puts it like THAT! :-)

Anyway, I got a new Mac a couple months ago and am back to making music.

I've already submitted my first new tune in almost six years; but it's "unapproved" because I'm being treated as a new artist posting his first tune!

This is odd, as I never fully left here, much less cancelled my account.

I hope it's just a temporary glitch!

Rock on brethren! (And sistern as well!)

Well, in the meantime I guess I can post the lyrics:

NO REQUIEM

I.
Won't You lend an ear my friends?
Got something to say, and it just can't wait.
It's our plight... concerns us all;
---a matter of life and death.

I'm not talkin' 'bout politics;
no bullshit left/right dichotomy.
There's much more than that at stake.
It's time that we all awake!

1st Chorus:
What will we do when the forests die,
and the desert claims the land?
How will we fare when we cannot breathe,
'cause the air is thick with the poisoned by-products of our plans?

II.
We're the authors of our fate,
---this post-industrial tragedy;
and now "all the world's a stage,"
for the damage that has been done.

Will we wisely change our ways,
---retrace our steps in the nick of time?
Or just simply forge ahead,
ignoring the warning signs?

2nd Chorus:
What will we do when we've tipped the scales,
and the ice caps are no more/
How will we fare when the oceans rise,
and our cities die,
'cause our coastlines are lying beneath the brine?

III.
It's "to be or not to be."
The place is here and the time is now!
It's not hard to understand.
Just open your eyes and SEE.

The community of life,
exists in a delicate balance friends.
If we let it slip away,
we won't see it's like again.

3rd Chorus:
What will we do when the soil is fried,
and the land yields only weeds?
How can we thrive if earth can't provide
the essentials that all creatures need
if they're to survive?

4th Chorus:
What will we do when our time is up?
Can we drink this cup to the dregs?
How will we fare once we've snapped the web?
Can the techno-crats and politicos save us in the end?

It's a race against the clock...
It's a race against the clock...
It's a race against the clock...
It's a race against the clock...
Tick-tock tick tock! (2x)

Welcome back, Mike!

It sounds like you have some important issues on your mind. I hope your song is approved soon. Wink

You might as well be a newbie, Mike. If you clean out the songs in your account, the next tune is automatically treated as a 'first upload' by a new artist regardless of how established that account actually is.

I decided a couple of years ago to begin reposting my 'Rik' tunes to the Rik account (still available but idle since my becoming The Man From Plasticville.) I thought that having the Rik tunes archived there was a nice idea - all those LIOLI songs and such... but the first tune I uploaded got the 'needs to be approved' notice.

That song sat, waiting to be approved, for somewhere between six and eight months. I eventually gave up on the idea, and deleted it in resignation. Some musical friends I had persuaded to join MJ gave up in complete disgust, waiting for the approval process that never happened.

MJ is simply a closed room for those already here. A few dozen lifers left, perhaps? Your time here, your history here, your legendary status and musical contributions are all irrelevant to the site - it thinks you're a newbie and the door is locked. I wish you luck but I doubt your song will ever see the light of day here.

So welcome back (even though you never left) with a grand hello and a raised tankard of ale! I'll sneak you in the bar and we'll all swear you came in with us.

This is depressing, but I think probably and unfortunately true.

Maybe Calchas can slip through a crack in the door..

Well, good news!

Calchas's new song is up. Hope springs eternal as the upload process was only a couple days. Thanks, Simon.

Yes! Thanks Simon! And thank you all. I have truly missed this community.

I'm not online at home. Probably won't be for another year and a half. I do my online stuff at a friends house right now. Of course, I won't be able to spend as much time as I would like listening and commenting, but I'll do the best I can!

Glad you folks have been able to listen after all. Weird thing is, the page for the song, with all your comments shows up for me, but there's no player showing up on my page! Fortunately, I have a copy at home! Ha ha...

Happy holidays to one and all!

And now the player appears (and functions, to boot!)

Perhaps the glitch was on my end.

A sigh of relief ensues...
