Description
I started out trying to write a jug band song and I think ended up writing a Hank Williams song. This is the first song that I have played a Dobro on. Please be kind, I have only been playing for six weeks.

Lyrics
It Didn't Work Out

I've been waiting oh so long for a good sweet baby to whom I could belong
But it didn't work out, no it didn't work out, before I even know I'm on the go
Because it didn't work out

Another Friday night with nothing to do, sittin on the porch singing a tune for you
But it didn't work out, no it didn't work out, you took my song and you did it all wrong
oh it didn't work out
Oh I tried so hard to please you, but you changed everything around into something new

I guess I wasn't good enough, I was too slow so you speeded right up
So it didn't work out, no it couldn't work out, I was too slow and you were too fast
So it didn't work out

I don't know if you were putting me on but you sure did bring me down
So I guess it didn't work out, no it didn't work out, well you made me sad and just a little mad
So it didn't work out

Reminiscent of "Move it on Over"
Very rich, textured instrumentation here, Tom, even
before the dobro makes its appearance, which is magical.
Reminds me of an old tune, "Move it on Over," not sure
who wrote it? But this is vintage bronco, and I look
forward to more dobro from you in the future.

Another great tune, Tom.

Reminiscent of "Move it on Over"
Move It On Over is a Hank Williams song. After making the comment myself
that my song sounded like a Hank, I went and listened to my collection of his
stuff to see how "close" I had copied. I think the one it most resembles is
Mind Your Own Business but there is enough difference to satisfy the
copyright laws. I definitely soaked up that style over the years though.

Down home
Oh yeah. Another unmistakable bronco tune. This has the
charm and presence of a live performance. You are doing
a better job of reproducing your voice. Hey, that dobro is
pretty cool. I like the harmonica too. An all-around good,
honest song. Thanks for sharing.

great!
I like this song a lot! the words are great...reminds me of myself a lot! hehehe It does have a bit of the feel of "Move It On Over" but not the Homer and Jethro version. Diggin' the dobro, keep it up!

great!
Thanks Jim. No resemblance I am sure. Definitely one in this direction
though. I will work on the Dobro but it is going to take a lot of practice. It is
amazing how fast that steel bar will wear out your wrist.

Thanks Tiler. The dobro is a Flinthill. Don't know a lot about dobros except
the Gibson's are top of the line.Think I will take a look on the internet and see
if there is any info on Flinthill.

Thanks kachoolik!! I'm just a riffer at guitar compared to you but I do enjoy it.
I'm surprised that this simple little song has been so well received but I guess
it's like you said, good overall sound. Peace and good picking.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments. There was actually a time when
country music was honest and true. Doubt if I will be able to bring it back but
was just making myself happy by having fun doing this song which I know is
what motivates you guys also.

Just the right speed for me
Thanks again for your nice comments. I agree it's not just falling in love, you
have to match up metabolisms and energy levels also. At least to be happy in
a relationship I guess.
Don't really know. Never been there.

top vocal
Great vocal character it really carries the song.
I think the song is on the long side. Keep up the dobro
playing it sure is a challenge of an instrument to play. Also
I'd loose the chorus effect on the slide and let the nature
sound "sing through". Dobro and other resonator guitar have
such a spine tingling sound, they dont need over effects.
Overall though great feel. Well done.
