Description
This one's been in the works for quite some time and actually started coming together when I decided to adopt lyrics I hadn't written any music to to a song I hadn't written any lyrics before. If you've ever been homesick, far, far away from home, this is how it would feel. Ironically enough, I wrote it after I came back home after almost 20 years away.

Lyrics
I wish I could See dawn breaking over head
I wish I could feel the rain on my face
All I see are the city streets in a place so far from home
And all I hear are the sounds of people running through their lives

I wish I could feel the grass under my feet
I wish I could smell flowers growing on the hill
Dirty concrete and glass and steel greet me every day
The city’s cold and the nights are dark as my heart longs for home

No matter how far I roam
No matter how old I grow
I always long for my valley home
As I walk these streets so cold

The summer’s warmth and the winter’s cold seem so far away
The stars at night are neon lights buzzing overhead
Soon these walls start growing close when the ceiling is your sky
I dream at night of the open air and the dusty roads of home

No matter how far I roam
No matter how old I grow
I always long for my valley home
As I walk these streets so cold

I wish I could See dawn breaking over head
I wish I could feel the rain on my face
All I see are the city streets in a place so far from home
And all I hear are the sounds of people though from their lives

Excellent Song and killer bass
I enjoyed everything about this, the singing, the bass, the
lyrics, the melody, everything except the synth see-sawing
through most of the song. I kept on wondering what the
song would sound like with out it.

Excellent Song and killer bass
I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment Mungo. This one was written from the bass line up. An early, early version had a much more sparse background, but I never could get it to sound right.

We must be in a state here
I really liked this. Quite the contrast to your last tune and,
You made my last tune a happy song... Totally diggen the
percussions and drums on this. Also diggin the phat bass.
I am quite taken by your vocals as well - nice work. I only
get home sick when I go home to my place of orgins back
in Michigan, a small town. I kind of in a state right, now,
maybe that's why this appealed to me so much. I'm also
relocating to a new city and I'm sad about leaving this
one, but excited about my destination. I know, this isn't
group therapy, but the music was quite theraputic for me.

Thanks for posting this one.

Cool bassline
Very cool bass sound, line. Nice soundscape, use of
harmonies, drive. Your vocals are a little uneven, a little
too soft sometimes. But the structure, pace, and lyrics are
very solid. Your lack of rhyming on the verse leaves a
certain off-balance affect that works well with the
concept. Nice track.

Cool bassline
Very cool. I'm glad you liked it. The vocals are usually my weakest spots. I still haven't found a good, consistent way to record and mix. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment Tobin. It's very much appreciated.

Great feel
Love the relentless bass line and the way the whole song
feels - the misplacement of being "away" affects us all.
The problem is that the more time you spend away from
home, you find it harder to settle back to what you were
homesick about when you were away. Then you start
feeling "homesick" for the "away" place/s. Makes for good
lyrics though!

Great feel
I got the same longing feel from your latest tune, I Was hapy Here,
jiguma, which, BTW, I urge everyone to go and take a listen to. I appreciate your
listening and comments and I'm glad you liked it.

Very good beat
Awesome bass lines! I think the vocals are somewhat
uneaven at times, almost they could mixed up a little bit
(sounds better towards the end). The lyrics are very, very
good. I like the mood of the song, the melanchony, the
longing. Good work once again!

Thanks,

M

Very good beat
Glad you liked it, Mikki. This one took a long time to finally get to where I has
mostly satisfied with it. My vocals are hit or miss at best, but I'm working on it.
Thanks for listening and commenting.

Great Song
This song is really great and I think it has loads more
potential, reminds me a bit of The Blue Nile which is a good
thing in my books. I was hoping towards the end, last verse
that a little desperation might creep in and the vox might
crank up a notch or two. Expressing longing etc, but thats
just my humble opinion.

Great Song
Very cool. The '89 Blue Nile album Hats is one of my favorite all-time albums. A great compliment. Thank you. If you like their sound, check out pgreenstone's tunes, especially Stars on my Ceiling. His work reimnds me of them as well.

Glad you liked the song. I appreciate your taking the time to listen and comment.

It's very interesting, being someone introduced to your music by your later posts, to hear software instruments featured so prominently in some of your earlier posts. I'll be interested to hear the transition to the guitar rocker I've come to know as I make my way through some more of your catalogue This is cool. Great atmosphere and melodies in both the vocal and the backing track..
