The Real Me

Description
This is my best song to date. I think so anyways. No loops except the beat. I have written and performed all on my own. I have recently learned acoustic guitar. My uncle says I'm a natural. In this song you'll hear me on the keys, guitar, and flute. Also vocals. I created a bass line, a string section, and I've learned a lot about using gate and reverb. This song shows a lot of improvement using Garageband. That's just what I think. I hope you enjoy it. It's written for Darcy and originally written while playing guitar. Let me know if you can hear the guitar and the other instruments clearly. *~Sarah*~

Lyrics
VERSE
I was alone
All on my own
Until you came around
Finally I’ve found
Someone like you
Who I can turn to
When no one’s around

It’s funny how we came to be

CHORUS
You never know
Unless you try
You’ll never soar
Until you fly
And you’ll never see
The real me
Unless you look more closely

VERSE2
There is now
A smile on my face
Once there was nothing in its place
It feels so right
It just can’t be wrong
That’s why I wrote this song

And it’s funny how we came to be

BRIDGE
I’ve got some twists and turns
So much for you to learn
But I won’t say
Unless you ask me

I know you’re not afraid
Come march in my parade
And see how far we can go
Oh oh oh oh

Very sweet!
Its really admirable that you crafted nearly the entire piece
from your own performances. Its a very sweet
composition. Great vocals, including the harmonies. Very
clear and confident.

I'm listening to this late at night, so I can't really crank the
volume for a good listen. From what I can tell the
recordings are all very sharp. The flute does seem to
disappear a little from time to time. You might try
applying one of the vocal compressors to that track to
help elevate the more quiet moments. It seems you have
everything centered in the sterio field. Even a little
panning, doubling, and chorus will help separate your
instruments for the listener. This is especially true for the
backing vocals.

Its a really well-concieved piece and a great vehicle for
your many talents!

nice job
This is a really nice tune. I really like that chorus. Great
harmonies. The guitar is hard to hear. It may be a
combination of it being a bit too low and it's thin tone
getting lost in the other parts. You might pan it over to
the right to give it it's own space.

But it sounds quite nice and very well performed all
around. You have a real nice voice and it would be a
pleasure to hear it trhough a better mic. It sounds like
you used the pinhole mic which does sthe trick, but a
good mic would do wonders.

Very enjoyable and, as chikoppi said, sweet.

Marching into joy
I dig the march feel, the uplifting sense. Very solid song and
nice audio concept. Very strong pop tune. It does sound like
a demo, with a certain lack of variation in the piano and
percussion tracks, but I really liked it nonetheless. Nice
harmonies. Nice track.

Awesome Comments!
That's exactly what I needed to know! I bought a book on Garageband and it had a whole section on panning the instruments and I completely forgot about it. That's right, I do have everything right in the middle. I'm going to go back and switch things around and make the flute a little louder in some sections. As well as the piano doesn't have much variation. I'll try and come up with some different little melody for it. I basically just play 4 chords over and over again. The guitar is quiet and has a "Dreamy" effect on it. I'm very new at playing it and didn't want to sound bad since I'm not too good at strumming yet. Thank-You so much for those suggestions. You really helped me out! ~*Sarah*~

Sarah, Sarah , No time is a good time for good-bye

All agreed with the above peoples. the weakest point of
the song is the drumbeat. it really is too synthetic against
your very organic voice and piano work.

I would love to throw some crazy drums on this if you
were intrested on someone elses take and twist of your
wondeful song.

Great job.

Hey, I love pop music, piano ballads, and beautiful smooth, clear vocals. I've been singing since I was young in musical theater and drama productions. I can play flute and piano. Taking guitar lessons. Writing songs is something new I've tried. It's... [see more]
