Description
John liked the original Dragonfly, and played along to it. I mixed his tracks back with the original for this launch.

Whatta ya do
This is an excellent tune with a deeply groove'n drive like all of your
stuff, David. _It's what keeps me coming back for more. Of course,
I liked the first version, but this one's rock'n. I had just played this for a
friend of mine as an example of how good the music is here at MJ's. He
couldn't believe it then, to be sure, this won't make it more believable.

Can't wait to hear what he thinks, as well..

Thanks!

Nice touch 'UP'...

Dion

Hey I'm glad you like my stuff, Dion! I always enjoy hearing your thoughts about my tunes. Thanks! And I appreciate you adding someone to my audience. :)

Genre-blending hipness
Very cool melody movement, nice Twentieth Century style intervals.
Sounds more like Prog Rock than R&R, in my ears. Really dig some of
your funkier moments. Love the styles you are playing with in your
growing catalog of songs, and many of them come together nicely in this
piece. If I have any critique of this track, it is the intro, which isn't quite
as hip as the piece becomes, sounds more like a 20th century choral
opening, and maybe you could use the edge of your electric guitar right
off the bat, hook people from the get go. Thanks for expanding your
repertoire with yet another evocative track.

Genre-blending hipness
Thank you for your thoughtful comments, Tobin! I was uncertain about how to categorize this one, but I think you and ledebutant are right that Prog Rock makes the most sense. That intro... I keep almost removing it, and perhaps I should go with that intuition... but then I find myself liking it again. At any rate, since I'm a little conflicted about it, it's nice to hear your thoughts on it. I'm glad you like this, Tobin, thanks for stopping by.

I'm with Tobin
My first thought was that this sounded like a very, very cool prog track.
Of course, I'm one to talk about genres (roll eyes). :-)

I loved the original, but John's excellent, excellent guitar adds so much
to Dragonfly. PV, your mixing is impeccable; the tracks match
perfectly and every element stands out pristinely.

Also, goodness, what fun! Great music, guys.

Tipping point reached... now it's suddenly a prog rock tune. Thanks for weighing in on that! I agree that John's guitar is a great enhancement to this song. Thank you for commenting and faving this Lisa!

Very cool
I always liked the original and that hasn't changed a bit.
Excellent guitar additions - really add to the overall grooviness of the
piece.
Great work, guys...again!

buzzsaw harmonics
I like the searing guitar soloing over the solid hard foundation. Sounds
extraspatial. Cool. Ripping. Inventive. Whimsical. Serious. Saturated,
then delicate, then hammer clawish. Hard rock 12-tone dance music
for all those macro dragonflies roaming the universe.

buzzsaw harmonics
Hey you described it exactly! Especially with extraspatial. And thanks for noticing that I've gone dodecatonic again on this one :) Thanks for listening and commenting.

Yes, the bass, and the rest of the melodies were made using the GB
software instruments--except the guitar obviously! I'm glad you enjoyed
this Shawn, thanks for listening.

You were right…
…to move it to the prog genre. Nicely done (both the change of
genres & the track). Sorry I've not been listening to your more
recent stuff… I've just been too busy & MJ has taken a bit of a
backseat. But I'm here now and this is great stuff. But I can't
believe that you've not heard the Ozric Tentacles… this is so up
their street and I really think that they'd be up yours… your street
that is! Sorted, PV!

You were right…
Hey thanks man, I'm glad you dig this! This is one of my first attempts at actually writing my own melodies, and I'm pleased that they work as well as they do. John's guitar really fills out the song nicely, giving it a layer of texture and complexity that I really enjoy. I've heard a little Ozric Tentacles now, and it's time for me to get an album.... thanks for stopping by and commenting Eppy!

wowa!
Oh, didn't mean to lose you there. Picture if you will a small boat on a lake in upstate New York... the boat is drifting in a corner of the lake where the dragonflies hang out. Now the dragonflies, it turns out, are actually little robots--emissaries from a distant colony of space-dwelling insectoid creatures. One of the robotic dragonfly emissaries lands on the edge of the small boat and records the strange voices and actions of the boaters. Then, data in hand (or leg really) the little robotic dragonfly emissary returns to the nebula of it's horde and prepares a special report for king dragonfly. Intrigued, the king robot dragonfly devises a special mission to return to the lake in New York, to the dragonfly area, and to try to find the curious boat dwellors mentioned in the report. The colony launches an enormous rocket full of robotic space dragonflies straight at New York. But they arrive at the lake while it's pouring down rain, and they make an emergency splash landing in the lake. The little robotic space dragonflies become stranded, but they like it there and set up a new secret colony of little robotic earth dragonflies, spending their time investigating the intriguing and beautiful life forms that can evolve on a planet (as opposed to the empty vacuum of space). I hope this clears things up a bit!

Man...Glad I landed here.
This is some really good stuff. The bass carries you with the beat so
well. And the guitar is so awesomely diversified. The mix brought
everything together so well. I really enjoyed this as you can probably
tell.

Nice Groove
I don't get around to your music much, my bad. I like the tangent
you've gone off on here. Reminds me a little of Jan Hammer. Very cool
changes, and the guitar playing is great. Cool collab!

Thanks Alimar! I'm all about the tangents, of course.

and hire you.
Hope he doesn't read this. ;)
Very solid groove set against a song whose audio palette is similar to
Gentle Giant. Awesome concept, well executed.
Excellent playing and sound.
