Lyrics
em7, c g
half a man lying there bleeding from his faith
smoked 2 packs a day and drank a case
been trying to kill himself since 1972
but instead he was killing me and you
killing me and you

a waste a shame the man was so talented
all I ever wanted was for him to be my dad
all I ever got was the backside of his hand
the cycle ends here when you leave this land
you are leaving this land

am f c
you can die if you want to
your grandchildren never will they see you
hope you get what you came for
next time you need to love a little more

I said goodbye to my father today
wrote a song that forever I will play
hurts like hell on this rainy day
tears and raindrops begin to go away
begin to go away

the end is near sounds slowly fade away
get down on my knees and I begin to pray
thank the lord for this rainy day
maybe it will wash the pain away
wash the pain away

am f c
you can die if you want to
your grand daughter never will she see you
hope you get what you came for
next time leave your luggage at the door
send it back c.o.d. throw it overboard
return to sender its not yours anymore

Very touching!
Your music is so near and touching. You are the macjammer
that moves me the most. It is so honest and Direct! I just love
this song and your style!Happy new Year Tim

Thanks for sharing this, Tim
I am curious, if you don't mind my asking -
When you create something so personal like this - and not necessarily an
emotion one would desire to revisit, do you ever play it again or is it more
like - "I've recorded it and it's time to move on"?

Thanks for sharing this, Tim
it is interesting that you ask that question! I wrote this song in september and I
tried to record it that day a bunch of times. couldn't get through it. then I didn't
play it until about a week ago. then today jan 1 I just decided to record it. the
more I played it the more it grew on me. the immediate emotion is gone and the
song will last forever. the feelings will always be there. I have never played this
song in front of anyone, don't know if I ever will! my sister called me in the
middle of me writing this song and at that point in my head I told my dad to be
on his way because I wasn't coming to see him.

amazing
your vocal style is great on this. i think it would kick up the emotion on the hurts like hell on this rainy day if on this rainy day went up in pitch. it's a really great accoustic track. very passionate and amazing lyrics.

COOO SONG!
I like the rough sound! The guitar sounds a little sloppy in places but besides that not too shabby!

Touching
It's a touching song this. You wrote a song that forever you will play... I guess you will. The story grabs me.

The playing and melody has some relations to something the Rolling Stones could have made.

This resonates
The line "next time you need to love a little more" and others makes me feel like you get me. OR I get you. Like a real song should. It brigs back my father's death and funeral. I'll keep you close in my wanderings here.

thank you
I have the feeling with your music that if we played together we might melt some amps and start some fires by accident. There would be a lot of energy there for sure. Hopefully this might happen someday!!!

I started my musical career playing the drums. For the last 7 years it has been mostly guitar. I learned the harmonica when I was 18. The hardest thing I have had to learn is the singing!!! Now I have put all four of these things together and have a... [see more]
