Bill Gates

Description
This is a song I wrote yesterday that was inspired by a news item that Bill Gate's personal fortune was now at 50 billion dollars. It is a no doubt unrealistic satirical song but one I hope you will find a lot of fun!
Several of the references are taken from what I learned about Gates in the documentary, "Revenge of the Nerds". One being that before he was married, Bill would often go weeks without bathing and would be somewhat odiferous! The other was that he was arrested for racing road construction bulldozers in New Mexico in the early days of Microsoft. Turned out the bulldozers didn't belong to them. The picture above is the actual mug shot from that incident. And if you do find the song unrealistic, I would ask "If not Bill then who? " It looks like we will again have no real choice in the next election and the government will be as corrupt as ever. At least Bill wouldn't need to take bribes and steal!

Lyrics
D G
Old Bill Gates he has 50 Billion, one of these days he'll have a zillion
D A
He makes it faster than he can give it away
D
Think what you could do with that much
G
money, every day would be so sunny
D A
You could buy the whole government
D G
So come on Bill and be our hero, alternative

energy and the debt is zero
D A D D7
You could be the one to save us all

G D
Despite what you think old Bill doesn't stink,

his wife makes him take a shower
A D
everyday, he's just a guy with a lot of bucks,
G
and he had a lot of luck
D A D
Now he can be the one to save us all

He could put a chicken in every pot, even let you smoke it or not
he knows what it's like to go to jail

He knows that the rich should be taxed, take debt off our back
Stop paying interest and get something done
So come on Bill and be our hero, alternative energy and the debt is zero
You could be the one to save us all

Bring our boys back don't buy the oil, make bio-diesel with our toil
The air would be so much cleaner anyway

He could put solar cells on your roof, mass production would be the proof
Your utility bill would go away

Well I guess it would be all right for him to hear it but he probably wouldn't
like the chorus too much.

funny
It sounds like a combination of an old gospel song with a twinge of Hank
Williams. I like the references to his lack of hygiene prior to his marriage
and the adjustments that his wife instituted. Does anyone know anything
about her?
Anyway, it was fun to listen to. It is the type of song that would fit in on a
weekend drive through a rural area full of churches.

Glad you liked it! I was thinking more John Prine and Woody Guthrie when I
wrote it but the gospel and Hank thing does fit also.

for vice-president? very fun tune to listen to...I really like your vocals and the chorus in this song, and I always appreciate your political satire...if only greed was that easy to bulldoze...

Good one MikkiT, greed easy to bulldoze! Have you thought about writing the
lyrics to a satirical song? As Selters points out, not my usual thing but I'm
glad you liked it anyway.

me? writing? haha...I will leave that to you...but...it would be kind of cool if you or someone can make a parody of Aerosmith's song "Janie's Got a Gun" by replacing some of the words to make it into a political satire about the Bush administration and call it "Cheney's Got a Gun"...just a random idea
jgurner said 4239 days ago (March 12th, 2006)
If he can't be president....
....then maybe he should just buy Haliburton since they run everything
now anyway.I've heard a lot worse sugestions, most of them were in good
ole Memphis this weekend at the Peabody. The ducks were nervous.... :)

Awesome tune, Bronco. Great classic folksy sound, great message, and
some great fun.

Of course, then Steve Jobs would have to be The President for the Rest of
Us.

Thanks Joseph, you sound like a kindred spirit over there in Mississipi! Now if
I could just get the Dixie Chicks to record it!

Woody Guthrie
This reminds me of the kind of song Woody G. would have written during the depression. Some rich guy come and save us, knowing that we need to save ourselves.

Good song.

Woody Guthrie
Yep, exactly right. If Bill did get in he would probably just use our foreign
policy to get more business for Microsoft in India and China.

I'm not changing
Hah! That was good. I used to live in 'Bill Gates' country and let me tell
ya, he has taken more flack than any peasant could imagine
withstanding. This was refreshing, but still; I'll never give up my mac...
Hehe

Thanks Bronco. That was fun. - Dion

Gates meets Woodie G. meets...
Bronco. Very much in line with the socio/political songs that have
gone before. You have that classic sound about you, Bronco. Right
out of middle (Texas, that is) America.

Amazing!
Tom,

With Bush we have to watch our backs(and alot more) with Gates we would
have to guard our Mac's!
Great song, funny but very relevant!
I think a radio station would pick this up (agree with the Nashville /Gr.
and
Old Opry idea too.

Can you send MP3's to the White House (oh I forgot they are all asleep after a night planning World Domination.
Gates wants world computer domination, Bush Democracy where it don't
belong!
Great Song!

progressive for Nashville.
