Description
My songwriting partner Richard Marris wrote this on a road trip through Louisana (we're in the UK btw :) ). At one point he said he pulled off the road and was overawed by the emptiness.

Lyrics
Muddy Fields
(R. Marris )

Driving Down Louisiana
Felt fear creeping up on my shoulder
Look around and find
There's only me here
Between the muddy fields and sky

If God's looking down on me how's he gonna find me?
If God's looking down on me how's he gonna find me?
If God's looking down on me how's he gonna find me?
Here, between the muddy fields and sky

Coal black road and one silo
Flood water all around
Please don't find me alone tonight and cold
Between these muddy fields and sky

If God's....

Pulled my car to the side of the road
Got my guitar out of the back
I swear this place just scared these chords in my hand
Between the muddy fields and sky

The sky looked down on me
This is what it told me
The fields surrounded me
This is what they told me
The sky looked down on me
This is where it found me
Here, between the muddy fields and sky

Impressive
This is excellent and so are your other pieces. You cover a lot of musical territory in just a few songs. I'll be listening for more :)

Thanks Mr P
I have a dread of producing songs that sound the same or getting stuck in one style. Jack of all trades really but most definitely not master of any :)

GB has given me the freedom to indulge my own slightly left field view of music production. For instance I have 12 songs from the rock opera I'm working on with my old songwriting partner that cover everything from orchestral bombast to brass band taking in calypso, Spike Jones and rock along the way.

Cheers

Dick

Texas Chain Saw Massacre
it's funny what you'll discover when simply searching for some perfectly harmless keywords.

You are full of surprises Mr Langford. I really dig this song as it has some atypical stylings. Hmmm, imagine that from a gent like yourself. Hats off to you and your roaming nature. You and Richard have a lot of good ideas.

I';m so glad your next some promises to explore gansta rap. I expect nothing but brilliance, MF.....

I thought this was dead!
Thanks stopping by Mr Arms ;-)

Pleased you enjoyed it.

What I'm worried about was what search brought you to it!

Another surprise from The Mighty Mr. Langford
You've turned me into a fan Dick. This is, to say the least, unusual for the country Genre, but that doesn't stop it from being good.

By the way, what is it with you Brits. You always seem to take our Yankee music and some how make it better than it was when you found it.

I really like the feel of this and the production quality is excellent. It's probably because I wear a hearing aid now, but I was having a little difficulty pulling all the lyrics out of the mix. Like I said, it's probably my ears and not your mix.

Anyway. great job on this, I love it.

Plenty of Room
There are so many songs here at Macjams that many gems .. like this one .. simply get missed. I recently (April 2013) heard and commented about the bravo new version posted by DavisAmerica. But I had to come back and hear the original .. just to stay grounded. They're different .. but it just goes to show you that between the sky and muddy fields there's plenty of room for multiple takes of a good song.
