Lyrics
Handle You With Care

social butterflies float the scene
corporate vampires thirst when you bleed
the players have brought you down
your face etched with a permanant frown
don't take it so seriously

pre chorus:
i could make you happy
just a little smile
if i would make you laugh
just a little while
Chorus:
you're world spinning out of control
spirals down your black hole
in this world what is real
i will handle you with care

green eyed jackels bite at your heels
gray haired walrus makes excuses
blue haired chickens peck at yout words
black dog barking out his orders

pre chorus:
i could make you happy
just a little smile
if i would make you laugh
just a little while
Chorus:
you're world spinning out of control
spirals down your black hole
in this world what is real
i will handle you with care

waste basket employees idle your time
coffeepot hangers drink you dry
paper shackers flap in your face
don't take it so seriously

pre chorus:
i could make you happy
just a little smile
if i would make you laugh
just a little while
Chorus:
you're world spinning out of control
spirals down your black hole
in this world what is real
i will handle you with care

your sadness, your anger, your dispair
your desire, your lonely outcast, envy and conspire, fustration, jealous, hurt and a liar,
you just sit there
you won't put out your fire

Exceptional....
Groundbreaking.... well maybe not all that, but what a great song. Shades of [enter here the requisite Band names from the sixties, leading with the Beatles and giving a nod to George Harrison especially, but not to diminish the other three... OK maybe we can leave out Ringo].

Love this Vic. You amaze me with the groove you have. Production quality is really top notch. And this song just strikes the right chord all the way through.

But tell me now... where do you get all these song art cartoons??

cheers...
Vic Holman said 3959 days ago (February 8th, 2007)
thanks Jack
the song just turned out that way. sometimes you never know until you add all the bits and pieces. and well for ringo, well he does wave that eternal peace sign all the time.

the art is some basic b& w line art from a fifties art collection. i modify some of it, add colors and usually a lame saying. takes about ten minutes. one of these days when i pick up a scanner from home i'll actually use my original art from over the years.

Radio Rock
Love it! Reminds me of listening to the radio back when you could actually hear good stuff in the top 40. I really like that thick, dense acoustic rhythm sound that you get. Medium strings? then the arpegiated electric and the descending chord pattern really give this song class and make it stand out. And then a sweet acoustic ending. Really like!

thanks tom!
i remember way back when, when there were great songs even on AM. don't listen to radio hardly at all now. the acoustic is a ibanez ew (exotic wood) its made of birch and gives it a cool punchy, compressed tone, has the eq, blender & some type of pickup in there, wieghs almost as much as a solid body. wood pattern looks wierd but the sound is great.. in parts were there are desending chords and notes, there are also ascending harmonizing parts, fun to figure those out. the music itself i did in a afternoon, the lyrics took several days.

Thanks for the time to listen and comment!

Nice Tune
Nicely done. Love the acoustic guitar but also impressed with everything, especially the mix. Lot of depth to the audio-scape if you know what I mean. Nice job!

the acoustics are the foundation of this. after i kept adding different guitar parts it started transforming into a different soundscape altogether. either it can get fustrating or enjoyable assembling a puzzle. i'm the later i'm having fun. glad you appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time, appreciated!

Well, here's another clue for you all...
...the gray haired walrus was Paul...

Comparing this to previous efforts (and my own comments on previous efforts) I really am hearing here an effort on your part to pull back on the guitar effecting, and I think it's working... There're still plenty of guitar effects in evidence, but they aren't combining in an undifferentiated wash...

I'm loving the relatively dry doubled acoustic guitar bits, and pulling back to acoustic and bass at points... makes for aural interest, sonic drama...

That riff that comes in from time to time has a lovely Badfingerish quality... the descending lines owe a lot to George Harrison... and the 'ah's recall psychedelic-era Lennon... If you're going to remind people of other people at points, these are not bad ones to evoke...

But then there's a 'Vic' quality that is different from the influences, and that is also good... I think, much as you've worked on your guitar sound, there is also a VH vocal sound coming together that is starting to transcend its influences...

You really do craft an ear candy mix for lovers of vocals and guitars...

Thanks Ed!
i probably should refer to you as either the 5 beatle or sir EJH. your comments, suggestions and support are the type of things that keep me on my toes. i'm always a man in training as i see it. this tune has a lot of counter parts that was fun to figure out and play off of. i've noticed that the beatles did quite a bit of the descending chords but at times would also add a ascending harmony and playing fifths. the guitar solo is 2 electrics doing just that. i'm finding it intriguing how the end result comes out. if this was tabbed out it probably wouldn't make sense.

And the gray hair walrus isn't Paul.......it's a Jerry. those are real people i observe at advertising functions :-)

Thanks again Sir EJH. Sorry no royalty checks.

Great energy!
I really like the energy of this song! You play all the instruments yourself!?! The chords and overall structure of the songs flow really well and your singing is relaxed but engaging. It would be nice if the timing of the instruments would be a little bit tighter, but it actually didn't bother me that much, since you have plenty of good songwriting, interesting lyrics and for some reason I enjoyed this song much more than so many other songs of a similar genre! Good job there! Oh yeah, and the artwork - excellent branding, I see your icon and immedidately connect your name with good music.

thanks for the kind words
yes i play everything. though it may not be apparent but there are a lot of chords. then finding counter parts really builds up the "energy" of the overall sound. the lyrics is usually the hardest part.

Thanks for taking the time out of your day to listen and comment. appreciated!

Very clean...
...production. I wish I could get my mixes this clean! Nice dynamics, very nice harmonized guitar solo part as well. I loved harmonized guitars! I would love to hear this with some more harmony vocals on the lyrics. Excellent structure to this song, too--it's a winner!

mixing comes by trial and error and i've made 'em in the past. that is one of the downfalls of garageband, if thats what your using, is not enough plug-in spaces to tweek everything. the solo is a harmonized 5th. came as an after thought. i thought of adding vocal to the verses in spots, but thought maybe it's better to keep that simple since the rest has so much going on.

Thanks for taking the time out to listen and comment. appreciated!

Heyyyyyy
This was one of those songs that start out as "oh". Then as you get deeper in the song you say "yeah". Then comes the end part and your like "Holy MoLey". That was excellent.
Vic Holman said 3956 days ago (February 10th, 2007)
E.B.!
this is one of those type of songs that came together fast. i think about 5 hours for all the music and mixing. but it took days to figure out some lyrics. once i got the first few lines that came by quickly as well.

Keep on rockin man!
