I always enjoy your tunes
No matter how rough the recordings and mixes can be sometimes and even when your timing is a bit loose I always enjoy your music and your style. It's always got heart and soul and eases mine.

I know you asked for us to give you bombs ;) but I just can't do it. There are tunes like this that, regardless of my enjoying them, I just can't put a rating on. I'll just say that I like it and I like it just as it is.

Country Blues
Thanks Peter! I think I'm just beginning to come to the realization that I really am Old And In The Way as the Jerry Garcia/David Grisman band once named themselves. The values and things I loved about music growing up don't seem to be very popular now. Country blues, rockabilly, early San Franciso sound, real garage-one-hit wonder bands never were great recordings or precise musicianship. They just felt right to me though and still do.

this is a great mid-summer hangin' out with my friends on a Saturday afternoon by the pond feel to it.

Nice guitar playing .... a little loose but tasteful and honest. Has kind of a late sixties folk vibe. Very good & a pleasurable listen.... I now just read the Bob Dylan reference so the late sixties folk comment appears redundant. Song has a good melody and flows nicely.

I just ..
.. like it. As a guitarist I can appreciate the nice pickin' and as a singer (of sorts) I can appreciate the laid back singing too and the style - and you played both at the same time, which Peter is very good at but I must confess I'm super rusty at and have moved away from more and more since recording.. so I really admire that 'one-take' quality very much.. (I'd like to hear myself try that lol) .. I'm a big cheat, using and abusing technology .. what am I saying overall?- this goes well late in the evening while I'm supping my second Murphy's night cap ..

I will give you an honest 7 7 8 7 .. you get more in my book on originality round here as you did it the
'one take' method. Feel free to give your god honest vote and critique on one of mine, I don't bite.

Very True
Yes, I did it one take fingerpick guitar and vocal on one track and overdubbed lead on another. Most of my stuff is like that. Basically a live performance with the little imperfections you almost always find in live performances. Then I will add a few overdubs from time to time. Mostly lead acoustic. People at Macjams, more and more, seem to want complete productions that sound as if they just played on the radio. My stuff sounds like it was played on the radio 40 years ago, hehehe!

This is weird -
I wrote a comment earlier but I gues I screwed up the posting. Anyway - what I said was that I really like this performance and enjoy how relaxed an unforced you present the tune. The vocals and playing work really well together and there ain't nothin for me to crit here. But - I don't vote or look for em - so you'll have to settle for a fave and comments. Glad I stopped by.

thoughts from the bull...
the guitar work is nice! simple, clear and traditional.

the best part, tho, is the vocal companion. really nice!

to be honest, tho, this is a song that could be really dug into.
meaning, in hearing your voice, you could really belt this one.
sing it and play it about 600 more times - faster, slower, waltzier...
then record it again and belt it!

i can hear this being very powerful and dramatic. right now
it's a very nice piece... it has the potential to be much more if
you want it to be.

seriously! a terrific song! thank yoU!

bronco...
I love the intro - I just stopped by because I thought your forum post was interesting, and wasn't in for a serious listen, but that intro is beautiful. and then your voice! Someone said you could really belt this one, and I imagine you could, and that would be amazing, but your voice is great, pure and simple. This song doesn't really need anything else. I don't vote...never have...but you got yourself a new fan.

maybe if you had a pic
Don't know why you originally didn't get any hits... but this is a hit in my book. Really dig your style of blues. All around enjoyable... maybe it's because you didn't offer a pic with the post. Thanks for directing me. Take care.

Have mercy!
Raw yet sublime...I understand right well your comments to Peter Greenstone re values and the old music. I try to keep up but can't help but date myself again and again! We reflect the era that formed us. Thankfully, there's a lot to be proud of in that early, ever-receding period you spoke of. Another fine offering Tom. Perfect for your vocal style!

Be well!

Nice Ramblin Blues
Bronco,
I liked this piece, my only (complaint) is I like to see the lyrics to follow along. Other than that, enjoyed the song and thanks for sharing and posting this on Macjams!

Classic
I think this song was a classic when I first heard it as it was written many years before I was born. It is goos to hear that there are young people who can still appreciate a song sung and played from the heart!

Always loved this one
both the acoustic Dylan one and the rocky version he did with the Band at the Free Trade Centre in '66. This is a great earthy blues rendition of a classic folk song..
Very nice indeed
