Description
I think this is a good song! The lyrics are probably my favorite of what I have written up to now. I think the vocal is okay also.
The recording maybe another matter. I went back to trying to add percussion with the midi keyboard and it is a little rough in places. Tell me whether you think I should have just left it off or not?

Lyrics
She used to be my used to be but now she's my forever more
Because when I said the wrong thing she kicked me right out the door
It's a relationship made in heaven but seasoned and grilled in hell
A forgotten moment in a lost time that keeps me in a prison cell

Her mind would wander all over the map she had a sailor in every port
An imagination gone with the wind and a civil war in her throat
We would dance to a light fandango and swing on a star in the rain
And Jesse James couldn't steal from us because we had no shame

Come on honey give me a break
My mouth is out of control
I was a fool for them but I'm a fool for you and everybody knows

She never would give an inch she was the ruler of my brain
I always thought I was the smarter one but I got the blame
We would circle around each other like wrestlers in a ring
But she was a female spider and she had death in her sting

Come on honey give me a break
My moods are beyond control
I blistered their skin with just an ink pen
But I'm writing a poem for you

Great to hear this!
I am glad I found the time to check this out Thomas! This song is very typical you. I really like this song and the hole s\production sounds very tight in my ears. You play a terrific lead on this one. I am not sure what this would sound like without the drums, I seriously don't think they make a difference, either of the ways. Your singing is as strong as I have gotten used to. You sound greeat, and the songwriting is spectacular! I love your music mister.

She Used To Be
Magnus, I am honored, as usual, that you would take the time to listen to my song and I am twice honored that you liked it! I first wrote this over a year ago and then came back to it and completely rewrote the chords and melody. I am glad I did as I think it turned out better.

nice sounds there on the guitar
and that so pleasing to listen to bronc singing with the ever so interesting lyrics. You have a very enjoyable way of writing, I guess cause it really seems to come from your soul. I like the early Rolling Stones sound you get out of the guitar. At least it brings me back to that sound they had during the Satisfaction era.

You have a fantastic texture in your voice that is ineed very interesting. But the words really seem you have a LOT to say!

Way to go bronc.
Your texture in the guitar is fun to listen to on this as well as the creativeness!

A groove
Thanks Bill. I think for once I got into a groove with this one and it had a good rhythmic feel to it which made the vocal and guitar a lot easier to do. It wouldn't make it in Nashville but this is the kind of song I have been wanting to write and am very happy with it!

cool tune
ya know this could of made a good johnny cash tune. really good lyrics. the drums don't bother me that much well maybe the tambourine and left cymbal sound out of place. minor deal. anyway iiiiii liked it!

Hmmm?
Never thought about who else could sing this but now that you mention it, how about Willie? Hey, he's still alive and I can hear him doing a calypso or a Spanish sounding version.

Yup...
...these may well be your best lyrics to date Tom. This is good stuff man. Your leads are especially poignant throughout....so clean and well-executed. Vocals are tops as per usual. Melody is haunting...oozing frustration and deep regret with a pinch of bewilderment.

Be well friend!

"bewilderment"?
...or perhaps "oregano"...

Great
tune - this has a nice flow and feel. Great moody melody and vocal. I'm not sure if the drums are adding anything but I enjoyed it in any case. Glad I dropped by. Thanks for sharing.

...

the lyrics are brilliant. The singing is good and reminicent of Mr.Cash .. I think the drums give a touch of Velvet Underground "shiney shiney" .. but I think the biggest improvement would be to the timing (if you keep the drums).. their presence seems to show up (to my ears) that other timing is a bit loose. Another small suggestion is to effect some key lines in the vocal a bit different eg. the "Come on honey" etc .. do you record to a click track? Enjoyed it Mr.Bronco sir.

Last of the Dinosaurs
Nope, I'm not even sure what a click track is. Is it the metronome thingy? Timing has always been my problem as I have primarily been a solo performer for many years. I just grew up letting my mood and emotions determine how long to hold a note or change a chord. And even when I was in duos or trios, I mostly played lead guitar and didn't have to do a whole lot of rhythm.

Excellent and One of Your Best Posts!
Bronco,
I certainley agree the lyrics are really, really great.
Your guitar playing is spot on , really goes well with the song/lyrics. I see no problem with the percussion
at all, using a midi keyboard can be tricky at times
but you did fine. Way to go!
Thanks for sharing!

I thought the leads were good on this as well. I made a determined effort to try to phrase instead of just letting go like I sometimes do. Thanks for your continued support. It means a lot to have you comment on my songs.

"she had a sailor in every port"
:-) my favorite line...

It is a great song, for sure. I love the 'westernized' lead parts especially.

Hey Harold
That was one of my favorite lines too. I carried this song around in my head for a long time and then it just came bursting out. I'm happy that you enjoyed it!

Holy crap what great lyrics!
I think this is by far my favorite you've done so far. The lyrics are phenominal! I think "It's a relationship made in heaven but seasoned and grilled in hell" is probably one of the greates relationship lines EVER! And your vocals and production on this one are great. I probably would leave out the percussion, or maybe just go back and add a little "incidental" percussion.

Excellent work, Tom. I really enjoyed this one.

Damn
Wow Joseph, it just knocks my socks off when someone gives me a complement as good as this! I really appreciate it! Makes all those lonely nights with the guitar worth it. It will be a real challenge to write another song as good as this one turned out to be.

Your voice is amazing - there have been times I've really wished I had a) you accent b) your pitch c) the timbre of your voice - this may seem like a comparison but to me its fact - your voice is almost exactly halfway between Nick Cave and Jim Morrison;at least on this track anyway.
Whats more I thought I was listening to some authentic original folk song but you've written a legend. If time/space allows I'd love to send you a song with no lyrics or vocals for you to weave some magic to.

The thing that doesn't work for me is the drums - I know exactly where they are coming from - some of my piano techniques derived from playing sampled drums in live on keys - but you on this track dont need em - the accoustics you laid down there were perfect - even just an echoey single beat of a bongo on this would add to its genius.I dont have any bongos and I need some on a track so if you see anyone with bongos favourite em.REALLY INSPIRED BY THIS!!! Deep and dark!
Great song....you have obviously spent some time on these lyrics...they tell an evocative tale! This kinda reminds me of some Townes Van Zandt stuff like Our Mother the Mountain. Deep as a canyon of soul!
Lovely
