These Years (MJ Anniversary Song)

Description
As my fourth anniversary here at MJ approached, I decided I wanted to do something a little different to commemorate the occasion, so I decided I would try and do a song.

This is a song about these last four years, music and the friends I've made here at MacJams from all across the world. It's not perfect. This was the kind of song I enjoy - it came together in less than three hours from a blank sheet of paper (well, blank AppleWorks document) to finished product. There's little polishing and there were very few retakes on the parts. So, it's rough and I couldn't be happier.

So, on this four year anniversary of my joining MJ, here is my present to all of you. I hope you enjoy.

Lyrics
These Years

©2008 Joseph Gurner

I look at my guitar in the corner
It calls me back to all my yesterdays
I let it be my guide as I look around this world
And it’s always sure to bring me back home

I listen to those songs that have moved me
They take me to a place far away
They soar through my soul bring me so much joy
And they always bring me closer to home

These years
have seen so many changes
These years
Have seen pain and seen joy
These years
The music has moved through --- my --- soul
And it’s brought me to the place I am today

I look and see the friends I have found here
They come into my life every day
From every corner of ther world, their voices are so clear
And they make me feel like I’m home again

These years
have seen so many changes
These years
Have seen pain and seen joy
These years
The music has moved through --- my --- soul
And it’s brought me to the place I am today

Wow... That long...
Very well done, Mr. JG! Really liking this. Nice work w/ all of the instrumentation. It has a good "live-playing" feel to it. I especially like the kit on this one.

I haven't mentioned this because I just always take it for granted but, you're pretty exceptional writer. The words always seem quite fitting.

Happy anniversary, sir! Thanks for inviting us to the celebration!
