Description
More dub. A tune for the Summer [Joke here in the U.K.!]

I used the Zebra 2 softsynth for most of the sounds. Drums and percussion are midi; pop kit setting, and the bass is a Logic sub-bass thingy. I also used the DubStation AU plugin.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like this tune.

Thanks Kenta!
"Monotony Dub" - yes, that's a better title! Maybe I should change it. ;-)

I like the sub-bass too, but you can't hear it on my iMac speakers. I tried! No good for the radio then.

I like it
But I'm sure you can have some more in it... Hey! that sub bass pumping fine in my stereo as well in my headphones... It's a very sweet mix nice and clean.

Take care

Thanks again K
Yes - I use Rokit monitors and the bass sounds great booming through them, but I like to unplug the Rokits to hear what a tune sounds like on the tinny iMac speakers. The bass vanishes! I usually listen to a mix through a variety of speakers, but I didn't bother today. Very lazy of me.

What is dub?
I thought it had something to do with sampling other songs and altering them to fit into a new song ... or something. Evidently, it has reggae roots. ??

This music is just all so happy. Very bouncy. I think you have a unique talent for writing happy music. As always, the mix and choice of sounds are gorgeous. Great work!

Dub...
...has its roots in the work of the great Reggae producers like King Tubby, Lee Perry and my own favourite, Joe Gibbs. These guys were, imho, total geniuses and managed to influence a whole generation of electronic, rap, hip-hop artists etc. What they did by splicing tapes together and using rudimentary [by today's standards] sound effect boxes, like the Roland echo machine - can't remember exactly what it's called, is nothing short of phenomenal. Their music still sounds great today and you should definitely check it out. Try a google - you'll get lots of info!

Thanks, as ever, for listening and commenting. :-)

Cool track for the hot and sunny summer (pfft)
lol, some of the sounds are very King Tubby or Scratch Perry. Cool riddims and great delays as well as a brilliant bass. I did not find it too monotonous myself as you changed the instruments enough. I think its very good even though it does give a nod to 70/80's Dub, which is something we both like.

Scratch??
That's a very humbling comparison and I'm not worthy. But thanks anyway. :-)

When you think about how they made all those gorgeous sounds, the mind boggles, compared to the sorts of technology we've got nowadays. Amazing, really.

Thank you!!!
I've got into the ratings picks! That has very rarely happened to me, so I'm chuffed, really!

There is a certain "fruit-droppiness" to the tune, yes. :-) Sweet and sour - I like that!

Bouncy bouncy
A cheerful little ditty for the summer.

Fun sounds. After a while the epiano (or whatever it is) that plays along with the bass is starting to get to me. There's only so much root-fifth a man can take....
