A Mug - remixed

Description
I posted this earlier tonight, and then took it down for a remix. Had some stereo placement and volume problems that needed fixing. Sorry about that folks.

The reason this short little song exists is because I'm going to give a demo of the MacBook, Tascam FireOne, and Garage Band to the Mac User Group I'm in here in Arkansas. I put this together and recorded where every track starts and stops as well as what loops are on what track. I also put just these loops into my Fav's in GB to make it faster. That way I can put it together before their very eyes in the demo without taking an eternity looking for loops.

Well, not being one to waste a good groove, I thought I'd share the results with my friends. So I did a little more work on it and added some live guitar tracks to it, polished it up a bit and here tis. The name comes from the Mac User Group I belong to and the picture is me mugging it up for the camera in Photo Booth.

Enjoy

Be well and be cool,

Ed

thanks Dick
I had to get creative on this one so my mates in the Mac Club don't think I'm some kind of buffoon. There's another version on my hard drive that I'm actually going to have them help me build during the demo. It is basically the same as this, but without all the finishing touches this one has. After we're done with the demo, I'll bring this one out to show them the potential available in GB.

Thanks for listening my friend, and for the kind comments, it is much appreciated.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

you will
create a legion of new GB enthusiasts. A very cool jam indeed. The guitar work rocks and the way you layered in those loops (especially the organ) is ultra professional. Nice sound 360

The way I see it, if they never see the potential of Garage Band, they'll just ignore it and miss a golden opportunity to expand their natural creativity into music. I realize that most of them aren't interested in playing music, but you never know who just might be, and doesn't know where to begin.

Anyway, thanks again for listening and for the kind words my friend, it is appreciated.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

This is just amazingly cool! You say that quite a bit of this is loops!? Wow!

But man your guitar work is cranking through this!

Actually, it's almost entirely loops. I did do some, but not all, of the guitar work on it, but everything else is loops. I wanted the demo for the Mac club to show of the potential of Garage Band, and not my playing skills, or lack there of.

Thanks for the kind words on the song and especially the guitar work Mark, it is appreciated. Glad you enjoyed this little ditty.

Be well and be cool my friend,

Ed

And this is the expanded version
The original is only 1:50 long. But that one is the one I'll be using to demo Garage Band to my Mac Club at the December meeting. It's a lot simpler than this one because I'll only have a half hour to build it while they watch and I explain about using GB.

On this one I added on another verse and fleshed out the rest of the song. After I show them the demo one, I'll break this one out to really give them a taste of what you can really do in GB

Anyway, thanks for listening and for the kind words. Glad you stopped in and enjoyed the track my friend.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Very cool
I strongly suspect this is going to wow a few people! As karmatoburn says, you'll probably give birth to a whole new set of MacJammers. Lovely groove, and terrific, terrific arrangement, truly dynamic and involving. Very cool. I hope the other folks in the club appreciate the talent they have sitting in their midst! Peace, my friend.

Thanks David
I actually have 2 versions of this song. One is a simpler version that we'll actually build while the group watches so they can see how it's done. I have that one all laid out as to where everything goes and the parts are all saved as favorite so I'll have easy access to them.

This version I'll bring out after they've listened to the simpler version to show them just how intricate it can be if you want to take it that far.

That way they'll really get to see the potential available to them in Garage Band. I realize that not everyone is into making music like we are, but I know of at least one person in the club who is, and hopefully this will connect with him. And maybe a few others I don't know about too.

Thanks for stopping by and listening Dave, and for the great comments, it is appreciated. I'll let you know how it goes over at the meeting, and if I can steer any potential new Macjammers to the site.

Be well and be cool my friend,

Ed

You are
a master my friend. I am always amazed at what you can just "throw together" lol I enjoyed this a lot, especially the dirty dirty guitar lol. Great post Ed. How long did it take for the students to blink after you finished lol. I am sure they didn't want to miss a millisecond of your demo. I wouldn't have. lol
Peace

Well actually I haven't given the demo yet, but when I do I'll try to take notes on the return to blinking times. Could be an interesting experiment. It's planned for the December meeting, so we'll see how it goes then.

Thanks for listening and the very kind words my friend, I'm glad you enjoyed the track.

I'll let you know how the demo goes. I'm hoping, at the very least, to get some people interested in doing music on their Macs.

Be well and be cool my friend
