Description
A song about a boy...

Inspired by the CBGBs fiesta back in May, I thought I would go back to my original influences. Artwork inspired by Bob Dorsey's preferred choice of footwear, as witnessed in NYC on more than one occasion...

Lyrics
JOHNNY NOTHIN’

“Nothing” is your last name
It could drive a man insane

Johnny Nothin’ X 8

Black coat and studded boots
You have up and left your roots

Johnny Nothin’ X 4

Leaving it , loving it, left it behind now

Johnny Nothin’ X 4

Turned your back on family
You will wreck your destiny

C’mon…!

Johnny Nothin’…

Cool track Jim
you managed to take a basic idea and build it into a complex and compelling arrangement. Nice switch up on the bass midway and your vocal effects are really working. Roots music.

Thanks Len
I was listening to some Stranglers, so a chunky bass was always gonna be in there!

Cheers for tuning in. Plan to hit London at some point - will let you know when (probably in the New Year).

Basics
Yep - back to where I am comfortable. I had a seed of an idea (boy leaves home) and ended up with this. I really tried to put some effort into the structure of this and I hope it shows.

Hope all is well in Brooklyn!

Awww
This is like taking a walk down memory lane - so many old British influences lurking around in here - I can hear the Stranglers for sure - Magazine - maybe even Adam Ant (early days!). Just sounds great - like a fantastic lost bootleg that's been unearthed after all these years -

And love the bass - could be even louder for me!!!!

Memory Lane - I used to live there too!

I had the bass way up. but it died in the MP3 conversion. Yes, early adam Ant - Xerox etc. Magazine - I wish!!!

Thanks for tuning in. Appreciated.

Excellent
I really like the groove on this - really nice bass (love the riff!) and drum combo. The vocal has real attitude and style. Great stuff. Nicely done. Peace.

cool
very interesting song. like the way the vocal melody works together with the bass line which reminds me a bit of the Cure for some reason.

The "leaving it loving it" part was my favourite.
Great post.

Leavin' it, lovin' it..
..I thought twice about that as it's a wee bit 'poppy' and could have toned it all down a notch. However, it appears to work - thanks for picking up on it.

Cheers!

Bob's Boots
Cool song Jim, it reminds me of a high speed chase with a CB and sirens blaring, sweet indeed.
My favorite part is that bass it just rolls along so nicely nad that mini solo towards the end is quite cool. Love ya style mang!

Ta much T.
A runaway('s) song. Reminds me of those brave dudes that flocked to London in the punk days from all over. Some were never seen again, some went on to be successful in the music world.

It's just got 'dark' written all over it in a few short lines. I'm gonna put up a slightly longer version with a break that I toyed with. Never put up an amended version before, so here's hoping that the difference will be noted - will I lose the original if I quote the number when uploading? We'll see..

Cheers, T. Hope all is well.
