Fine (acoustic)

Description
This song was an early staple for my band. We played it with both an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar as the main guitar. Either way the second guitar was a wah/funk electric. It had a different sound/feel depending on the choice. We usually also played the acoustic version at a little slower tempo. The song was fun to do. It's fairly simple. "fine" is used in the semi-sarcastic accepting way that you mean when you acquiesce to something you really wouldn't leave that way if you had a choice, but you don't...so it's fine. Sometimes you feel pretty beat up by whatever comes your way and you have to accept. My earlier lyrics were often of this vein, confused and twisted meanings, frustration but paired with acceptance. Just enough edge to make them almost scary, but hopefully still identifiable and accessible. The drums on this version were played by a buddy of mine Rob Willardson. The rest was done by myself. Rob graciously provided performance and rights for this, the CD version from "blue". I thank everyone for listening and as usual I hope to gain some like-minded contacts/friends by sharing what I've been up to. Let me know what you think. For those that are interested, there was an electric version of fine on blue, which you can hear on my website for comparison.

Lyrics
voices in my head
they're indecisive
seen it all your fun is gone
we will need a way to
discover silence
when control of me is gone
BUT OTHERWISE IT WOULD BE FINE
LOST THE GAME AGAIN LOST MY MIND
OTHERWISE IT WOULD BE FINE
FINE
don't let me feel you
let me feel you
don't let me feel you in my soul
i can feel you
yes i can feel you
you know i can feel you can't let go
let me feel you
let me feel you
please let me feel you in my soul
i have been here once
or maybe more it was
the same way then
and same way now
fight the day down
and still leave bleeding
and tomorrow's here
for another round

Tascam 424, Applause guitar, Yamaha bass, and I think the drum set belonged to the college. I think it was a Pearl brand. We recorded the drum track in a room at the music dept. Rob was/is a much better drummer than I as he was the main jazz band drummer at our college. It was excellent to have his support/help on this track.

Groovy
I dig this. Good song, well sung, well played.

Now about that wah: it works perfectly nice in the rhythm parts, but I'm, how shall I put this nicely, not exactly fond of it on your solo at the end. I think a more classic distorted sound would probably work better. The wah somehow makes your notes sound cut off, so the solo sounds a bit disjointed. Maybe a rhythm guitar under the solo would help too.

Very nice drumming indeed, btw.

Vic: Thanks for stopping by on this and the others. I notice you're like me in that you kind of figure the point of commenting isn't just to say "good job". It's kind of a challenge to be constructive and everything. At least I think so. So maybe one day I'll push your good-o-meter up near 100% we'll see! About the wah, yeah I know what you mean about it. I guess you didn't like it, but the funny thing is I'm kind of into quirky things like that. I guess it's kind of like how you like your brother even though he's a jerk. I mean, at this point, I guess I just think that's what it is, and it's not perfect, but it doesn't have to be. I like the organic and real nature of it. I never get into stuff that is you know, too polished. It bugs me like it's a walking dead or something. No life in it. Paleface walking dead music. However, if I were to redo this, I'm sure it would be different (and better I hope). 'cause I'm different (and better?). And that's as it should be. I'm pretty interested in what kind of crazy ideas other people might have about what to do with some of this. Everybody's different so it would be cool to have a second take from another angle on any of this. Thanks for stopping by.

Cool tune
Great concept for a song, and very well done. You really squeeze the most out of that Tascam. I could never get that much out of mine, but then again it was the old days and it was usually in someone's basement or garage, and we usually were very stoned lol. I have to say your voice is great for rock and I will definitely be watching for more.
Peace
Guy

Thanks
I can tell you really appreciate how tough it was in "the old days" when gear was not as good and computers weren't ready for the job. I appreciate your appreciation! Hope everything's going well in your life and with your new job. Thanks for stopping by.
