Description
Looking for an intro to a poem I put together, I decided to let the poem be and just play it as a supplement to the writing.

Hope you like it!

Doug

ps not a festival song... but I got inspired and felt a need to share... but I sent in three of those, if you are interested.

Lyrics
Winter comes and goes.
Spring between winters.
Boots crunch dry lichens.
Walking on gray stone,
The roots of the earth pulled up through the skin.
They rise in their blackness, harsh to bodies.
Soothe in their presence.

Sun draws cascades of light flecked liquid ice,
chase through sharp chasms.
Waters, bright, foam and play with clean sunshine.
They tumble together down expanses
to remember time,
leaving only mists.

Holy Cow! I'm on my third listen - this is so ethereal, i'm in space somewhere.....but actually i'm just getting ready for bed, and this somehow is the perfect thing to listen to. Really - this is just......cosmic! Excellent!

Thanks Karen
It's got five parts, three of them guitar. The whole thing is based on twenty four note chords. I thought it sounded pretty extensive.

Hey Feter!
Thanks for the nice words. I understand the floyd connection. I didn't want to sound too much like Gilmore. Although things could be worse! ;)

My lighter is lit and held high aloft
Very strong concert vibe here.........

Good poem, too. I've just spent the last two days turning beds of sodden soil and getting things ready for the spring explosion. I'm in a loamy state of mind which resonates very nicely with your lyric.

Doug this is huge and really a surprise. The flow on this reminds me of a carl sagen sound track. My friend, you have out done yourself and this is great ... hmmmm .... maybe you have not "out done" yourself at all but "done" ypourself perfectly ... :-]

That means a lot, man. I would like to spend more time working through lyrics. But it's hard putting just anything to music. We'll see...

really cool
love the changes in this. reminds me of the wall a little but different enough that it's your own. very very well done. If I was going to play a live stadium show, this is the song I'd want to have them play over the PA before we came out

Glad you stopped! After your comment, I looked at a few shoegaze examples. There's a fair bit of this stuff around! Cool!

I found it easy to drift off with. Happy to help you to that place... !

Wow
Not what I expected to hear, but what a great surprise! Very cool soundscape. Definitely a Floydian vibe going on. Great atmospheric track that just lifts you up and out. Fills the phones! Imagine it as the opening piece in a concert. Magnificent. Nicely done. Peace.

P.S. I love the poem, too. Excellent imagery.

Nice to see you, David!
It starts like a slap in the face! I decided to leave it, like the first burst of sunlight over the rim, don'tcha know...

Since I have such bad speakers, I can't tell what it sounds like, outside headphones.

Thanks for the visit.

Hey Bill!
Appreciated! As I said above, writing for music is a challenge. I can write fairly easily. But I don't feel in the flow with music very often. This one felt right when I put it together. Themes and transitions worked. I didn't try to overdo the parts... just right.

Thanks for stopping,

Doug

Awesome Doug
That about covers it my friend. This is so cinematic and full of feeling. Like the background tracks for the creation of out solar system, or maybe the beginnings of life. Wonderful ambiance and of so ethereal.

Kudos Doug for a wonderful piece of music.

looking up
It does have a "singing majesty" feel to it, glittering towering walls and peaks and shimmering light and mist. A tribute to the glories of nature. Nice stuff here! Of course, I could critique the mix and suggest lowering some midrange bits and boosting bass a bit, but I'm still standing in awe of the mental imagery, so I'll just shush.

Cool!
Nice sound bed Doug! You're getting some great sounds out of GB and your guitar. This does sound like soundtrack music to like a science program or reminds of sitting in the dome looking at the constellations on the ceiling! Very ethereal! Great job!
