Lyrics
9to5

I`m busy working nine to five
Stone in my chest but still alive
I`ve got no friends, no place to go
The end comes slow

I hate my family, they hate me
Fear that somebody`s loving me
My little children, never seen
The end comes slow

The sun will shine
The moon will shine
And after shining bright
They die

Hey, silly folks just be alive
Save one more thought and close your eyes
Nobody cares, nobody cries
You call that lies

The sun will shine
The moon will shine
And after shining bright
They die

The river`s cold
And nobody knows
That all the things inside
Grow old

You have a real gift. Your vocal is warm and expressive. The lyrics made me knot up a little bit, but great lyrics always do.

Well isn't this just a gorgeous and beautifully played song? as i said to you in chat, so reminiscent (to me) of James Taylor (HUGE COMPLIMENT). Very nice guitar interlude there - you've got it all coming together here in a very lovely way. Congrats!

been a while...
very nice song. A real clean mix, very reminiscent of James Taylor, which is a big kudo in my book.

Working... life goes on. Grist for beautiful songs like this one.

cheers,
Jack

a Gifted writer
I love the chord that you land on when you sing "still alive"... and how that works with the melody... funny how such a small touch can turn the whole work in the right direction... you've crafted a wonderful song... simple and direct, yet with such gravity and weight.... poignant & deceptively hopeless... there is a stark contrast between your light airy vocal... (your voice sounds as if you could be delivering light love song)... but underneath it's a dark exstitential thesis...

a small suggestion... I think the most brilliant line is "The end comes slow"... it is such a loaded line... and sums the emotion of this song up so completely... I would musically tag this song on the way out with that line repeated over and over...and take advantage of everything that this line delivers

great work!

Hey wow
Usually I have to pretend like the song I'm listening to doesn't have shitty singing (mine own included, I am awful), but your voice is kind of like a mix between James Taylor and Gilbert O'Sullivan.

Lovely voice,
and a wonderful delivery. A real contrast with the lyrics (which sound a little Seasonal Affect Disorder inspired, actually). Guitar and production are also very fine.

Very nice - for sure makes me think of James Taylor. Well played, well sung, heartfelt and emotional. I wouldn't have faded the ending but in no way does that detract from the quality of this piece. Thank you for sharing this piece with us.

you have all the vocal and guitar moves of JT - which is a real compliment. I'd love to be able to get that jazzy chord progression stuff happening better myself - you do it really well. Lovely "room" sound on the rhythm guitar towards the end.
Welcome back to posting!

very intimate
Great guitar work, singing, song structure, and lyrics. This reminds me a bit of something Art Garfunkel would have done. Wonderfully rhythmic ending idea, though I am not a fan of fade-outs... would have preferred a final conclusive chord. Very heartfelt, like you were telling the truth from experience... well sung.

Super playing
and singing ,production is great and crystal clear, as ever,it would seem.
The lyrics are obviously deep and meaningful but possibly more obvious to someone who knows the story, not a crit just an observation but very listenable piece of work...D/Led and stashed !
