Description
This is based on a news item I found on the CBC website. About a chimp named Santino, a captive in a Swedish zoo.
He started to save up rocks to throw at the zoo visitors. Sorry about the swear word in this one, I couldn't think of a non-profane replacement line.

Lyrics
I've been living on this island since I don't know when
it's a luxury life but I lost my only friend
he used to hang out by that tree there, yeah he was alright
now I'm all alone and i just wanna fight

Hail from the chimp
keep doin what you willl
I'll keep throwing rocks from the top of my hill
santino don't like you
always coming round
So move a little closer and I'll knock you right down

they crowd around my island, waving their hands
you try to get it over, but they don't understand
they're always comin at me, I don't know what for
I'm saving ammunition, my own personal war

I want to find me a jungle, start a family
find some other monkeys who look just like me
the guy who brings the food is all sweetness and smiles
I betcha he's the $%^&* who's been stealing all my rockpiles

Hail from the chimp
Santino don't like you
Hail from the chimp
get me outa here

thnx
thanks for the listen!
it is an interesting story,
http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2009/03/09/chimp-stones.html

I should have acknowledged that the title is lifted directly from the headline...
I just noticed the story is filed under "technology" - that's hilarious.
I also just realized he's not completely alone, just the only male. oh well!

Oh yeah!
This is too cool big big applause, A rock and roll throwin chip. I dig the keys in this adds a fun feeling. The break and the way you come back is was excellent!

thanks
I was undecided about the keys, in the end glad I left it in. It was kind of laborious because I have no experience with rock n roll keyboard playing. it came out more kind of bubblegum sounding.
anyway, glad you liked it egobandit!

na na na na
hey dude this is fantastic. Addictive sing along chorus, cool keys, a j. mascus solo, and na na nas and a monkey in the outro. what's more rock 'n roll than a monkey in the outro?!

I am a crappy keyboard player but I thought the garage-bubblegum effect was kind of funny. A Farfisa organ sound might have been better...
the subject matter did seem ideal for a rock and roll tune.
glad you liked it!

Hail from the Chimp
There's definitely a bunch of political conversations that could be had on this. And that alone makes it an evoking song... good job!

Chimp
Lots of fun to be had here. Reminds me of Bowie-Diamond Dogs era.
Nice upbeat guitars and tongue-in-cheek vox.
Glad I listened to this.

I have had the sloan comparison on several occasions.
I grew up in the same part of the world as them so I guess I come by it honestly!

Great song Relic
Thought provoking lyrics to a good beat. Love the lyrics and the vox you did on this. Great back tracks to. Kind of a false ending on it, but it works for me.

Even the most gilded cage is still a prison, eh!

Thanks for sharing this one Relic.

Hail from the Chimp
This has a great Kinks vibe! The instrumental break is excellent. Adds a smooth melodic side to an otherwise rough and tumble rocker!
