Lyrics
The Deepest Bite

would you stay tonight
we could play inside
watch the morning light
when the sun will rise

view the sunrise
as we close our eyes
dream of a bright new day
wait until the sun fades away
slivers of night
from the moon light

i might see you soon
our blood paints the moon
if we don't look back
the deepest bite stands

view the sunrise
as we close our eyes
dream of a bright new day
wait until the sun fades away
slivers of night
from the moon light

'til the end of time
we watch oceans rise
we see mountains fall
we will watch it all

view the sunrise
as we close our eyes
dream of a bright new day
wait until the sun fades away
slivers of night
from the moon light

Do yo ever sleep?
'Cause your production is prolific. I'm listening an liking this vamp of a song... Great guits, and your vocal drips with blood!... and oh, that crystal clear solo.... 'verbed to perfection.

Really though, get some sleep.

Jackula...
Vic Holman said 2972 days ago (August 30th, 2009)
Thanks Jackula
i would work on this in short burts, so i sleep and take a 1/2 hour nap in the eve. unless i get woken by the "children of the night"
the solo reverb is a reverse reverb. it's hard to tell in the mix but it added to the overall sound of it.

Deepest Bite
Beautiful guitar work, and the production is first rate. With "True Blood" at the height of it's popularity, and "Moonlight" and "Vampire Diaries" scheduled to air this fall, maybe you should try to place the song in one of these shows.

that's where the pitted slide
comes in. it has so many grooves that I can create a bowing effect with it.

i appreciate the listen!

Sounds to me
as though you're on the side of the Vampires Vic LOL ......certainly a different view of them; you make them sound so nice. Great production and mix and not at all scary; just a very pleasant Vampire love song, well performed, cheers M

once i worked out the main acoustic, everything else fell into place easy enough.

seems there is a vampire craze going on again. so a subtle approach came to mind.

I love it. Admitting my partial bias for all things vampire, its got a darker sultry groove. The little bass runs add a lot to the mix. Way cool art work to boot.

vampires are so misunderstood. even the fake ones. ha.
i did spend some time tweeking it and trying different tones and sounds. some worked, a lot didn't. Mostly, I tried to keep most of it clean.

Vampires
Hey love the ominous feel to this, very apropos with the lyrics...I love how you go into the verse after that sweet solo, also enjoyed the drums in the chorus.
All goes very nicely and smooth and that final mini solo is sweet, great ending!

it's odd how so many major chords can sound minor. maybe it's me.
the ending came about as almost a impromptu thing. originally i was going to fade it out earlier with the acoustic line. but i got a wild hair and added 4 more distorted guitar tracks and just banged around on it.

Your stuff keeps sounding better
and better - and I didn't think it could get any better about a year and a half ago. Really Vic - the production on this is killer - the way the sound opens up with the lead in the middle is huge. Great song.

i practiced on the main acoustic for several nights in a row. that helped in getting the basics of the song down easily... actually i don't want to look back at this a year from now and think i have to redo it.

would be proud. Great song pic. Really dug the percussive elements to this song and the freaky stuff going on in the background. But who doesn't like when freaky stuff is going on in the background. And for some reason I'm really feeling the simple bass in the verse. It's spot on for me.

I wonder if I hadn't mentioned vampires if anyone would of gotten it. and vampires must have freaky stuff so they can be freakier.

great question
I looked back at the lyrics to see. I'd like to think I would have picked it out, but I probably wouldn't have. The references to blood/moonlight/bites would have been seen as metaphors. I don't think I would have picked up on them actually being vampires. Vampires needing freaky stuff to fuel their passion for the freaky stuff: It's an endless cycle, really.

Funny, I never thought of it from the Vampires point of view until now.

it was a case of love at first bite. seems romantic vampires are all the thing at the moment so i figured what the heck. but the lyrics came after the music was done, otherwise i might of put in some creepy organ if i knew it was going to be a vampire story from the beginning.
