Acoustic Morning Song (Roxylee & Dadai.2)

Description
Jack: There were a number of insightful comments on the original guitar instrumental Acoustic Morning Dew that I should add vocals. I asked Roxylee if she would join in. And over the past month this song has slowly been taking shape... I think it's a beautiful song now. The commenters were right!

Roxylee: When I heard Jack's Acoustic Morning Dew, I loved the sound and thought it would be cool to add some vocals. Jack agreed, so I put in a few background ahhhh's and sent it over to him. He encouraged me to add more, so I recorded improv lyrics as it played and added more vocal layering. Jack mixed it, lucky guy, and we hope you enjoy the results.

Song art is a picture I took at dawn, sailing north in the Gulf Stream, off the Florida coast in 2001.

Lyrics
Songs for dreaming
Turn into songs for waking
In the early dawn, early dawn

Can you hear someone calling
Calling, Listen, listen...
Hear the music of the morning

The sun rises, rises
Over the mountains
Across the land, across the land

Chasing the shadows away
Chasing the shadows,
Heralding the day

A new day, a new day,
A brand new day!

Lift up your head -Arise
Feel the sun on your face -Warm
You're alive, you're alive, alive

Feel the morning, singing a new song
Singing, Dance and sing for joy
In the sunlight, you're alive

You're alive, you're alive
Joy, sing, sing, Joy!

Cast that weight down, down
Let the fear melt away now
It is gone

Feel the peace rising
Every new day means promise
Let the fears go

Let the tears turn to laughter
It's a new day, a new day
Start singing!

Don't give up
Don't give up
Never, never give up!

Sing, sing, sing
Sing, sing, sing,
Sing, sing, sing

Sing.... sing
Sing sing sing!

Yes, the perfect choice...
Mark, your description of a concert with the many instruments of Roxylee's voice and the guitar is spot on for me. I was just amazed as this came together. I still don't know how she did it.

Thanks.

Very nice you two...
Gorgeous piece of music, deftly sung. I must admit that the multiple layers of guitars sounded a little busy to my ear (or is it a kind of phased reverb/echo?)... it is a little distracting in headphones. But the overall music is gorgeous, and Roxylee's singing is, as always, "glorious"... in fact, I think I shall reprint my dictionary, and change the definition to:

glorious, adj. - see "Roxylee's harmonies"

Energizing and sweet guitar playing, Jack... very uplifting!

Drakonis

glorious=Roxy harmonies...
Drak,
yes indeed! Knowing your connection with Roxylee, I'm not surprised at all with your comments.

The guitar part, actually, was not layered at all, but a one take that was panned far left and far right. It does have some effects (mainly reverb). But, I did try to tame it in the mix... maybe not enough.

Good to know you liked this and my thanks, my friend, for the generous comments...

Beautifully expressed
Roxanne, this so well fits the type of melodies and expressions I felt when I heard Jack's acoustic version. You handled the chord transitions so beautifully.

And I'll agree with you even further, Roxy does indeed excel in her vocal harmonies!

Ahhh.. thank you, Paul
The mix of the major and minor chords made this one very much fun for me to sing. It helped show the contrast between the last hour of the night and the glorious sunrise. God gave me the words and the timing, and I hope it encourages the listeners to never give up and to keep singing. Thank you for your appreciation of this collab. Jack and his guitar started it all.:-)

Paul...
thank you for such nice comments. It really is gratifying to read your reaction to the song. The original guitar piece and the collaboration didn't have much of a road map... one of those times when things just came together well.

best regards,
Jack
