Lyrics
pull the curtain from the door
and grab my coat from off the floor
we said goodbye yet here we are procrastinating
we rode each road to nowhere and now we’re hesitating.

let go my hand let go my heart
we both know we’re better off apart
wipe the slate, erase the tape and close the book
wish me luck - don’t let me take another look

we had much more than our fair share of second chances
but fate decreed we join the list of failed romances

so run your fingers through my hair
I’ll keep the memory of you there
I won’t forget you – lord knows I know I should
the ties that bind us will entangle us for good

so here we stand again we’re back to where we started
holding one another as if we never parted

so draw the curtain cross the door
and pull my body to the floor
I guess we’ll say goodbye once more another time
reluctant strangers to reason…to reason and rhyme

Wonderful song. Sounds effortless and smooth. Love the simple guitar accompaniment and harmonies Really enjoyed your singing here.
Your lower register slightly conversational style is fab. too. All around a really nicely written piece.

Glad I listened before reading your description. Too much information, bro!

I like the mix
I'm new to this site but liked your song a lot. Are you using garage band or logic? Nice mix especially on the vocals, good balance, maybe a tad overmixed but who am I to judge?....great job.

Yes, I hear the wonderful Simon and Garfunkel harmonies, and the nice singing and guitar work... poignant lyrics... great stuff... again!

Quietly lovely song
This is so nicely conceived and performed--a total pleasure to listen. I'm not 100% sold on the vocal double-tracking/effect: it occasionally distracted me a bit, but the performance was strong enough that ultimately I didn't mind!

lovely
i hate to go traipsing through the daisies throwing that word around but this is just pretty. really subtle and super high quality. you have a great voice, probably doesn't need the panning/doubling but i like it. i like the 'reluctant strangers to reason and rhyme' line and i love the harmonies.

Excellent song
writing here. Smokin hot tune man. Love this one. There is a high pitched sound on this one that permeates the whole song, if you cant get rid of it, I can do it for you. Great song man, very impressed. Favd and downloaded. Best song I have heard on MJ in a while.

Fantastic!
Yes, I've been there!! The break up that never happens, and then finally it does... What a great little song. The lyrics are excellent - not overblown like they could be, just stripped down to the basics. I will listen to some of your other stuff...

i like
your way of doubling the vocal lines - a technique i use alot - short but sweet song, and quite hard hitting in its way - sounds like its comin straight from within.a very observant and distanced view of ones own torment, almost a diagnosis to wat went wrong.particularly like the way you sang procrsatinated so easily - i cant even spell it,lol but that may be the frost nipping at me fingers.Put me in mind a little of john denver. So we wudnt be hearing this unless that bloke had been upstairs on a mac, instead of changing a bed? haha - I can't blame him - i tried working as a room cleaner in a hotel for a bit - wrecks ones spinal column, changing beds all day i reckon. Thanks - enjoyed - downloaded.Richard

NICE!!!!!
Dude you have a really cool sound. Good strong melody and lyrics. I like the simplicty of the guitar track and I always like songs without drums for some reason. The humming is a good way out. For some reason there is a slight whine in the recording (noticed at end).

Chair (Pronounce: "poignancy")
Well played, well sung. At the outset I was thinking, "Hmm, do I want to listen to a folkie right now?" But by the last harmony note, I was thinking, "life was sweeter when Simon & Garfunkel got along." This song has a special poignancy, thanks for voicing this for those who are less articulate. (Present company included.)

On a lighter note: A friend of mine made me a mix tapes/CDs with titles on this theme: "If you leave me can I come too?" And, "One more second chance."

Fate
I like your lower voice on this track (compared to your first two submissions). Much more mellow, yet also cuts in deeper, more intimate. In your lyrics, you mention fate. I have no idea the story behind the song, but it seems like the repetition of the romance/breakup/romance might seem like fate, but the lyrics garner an additonal layer of psychological interest if the idea of fate was more claustrophobic, self-induced. Even tho the simplicity of the text right now is nice. Enjoyable sound.

simply stellar
"we both know" @ :48 - cool phrasing.
"the ties that bind us will entangle us for good" - love that line.
"so draw the curtain cross the door and pull my body to the floor" - perfect way to complete the circle. one sweet little splash of harmony - mmmm GOOD! the minimal guitar delivers maximum effect, and well, you simply sing beautifully, Julian. you've gotta crystal clear delivery, and i really like the way you pay vocal attention to the end of words. this is a delicious write, and a superb sound. can you tell i liked it? anne
