Description
Feter and I were chatting a little over a month ago and I expressed interest in collaborating on a bluegrass project he had just started. The title is "Heart on the Road". By the time we finished we had quite a few additional collaborators. This is a song Feter had written some time ago. He posted an electric/blues version of it with Bob Rodgers earlier this year. This is an acoustic/bluegrass version.

Here is a list of those involved..

Fiddler (Martyn) http://www.macjams.com/artist/Komrade%20K
Slide Guitar (Brian) http://www.macjams.com/artist/Elevator_Funk
Banjo ( Daug) http://www.macjams.com/artist/Daugrin
Guitar (John)http://www.macjams.com/artist/johnwhitehead
S,Vocal (charles)http://www.macjams.com/artist/crissew
S,Vocal (Roxy) http://www.macjams.com/artist/Roxylee
Mandolin, Lead Vocal (Feter): http://www.macjams.com/artist/Feter
Bass, Percussion, Accordian (Steve): http://www.macjams.com/artist/tonestones

Some notes from Feter:
This is a song I wrote many years ago I was thinking of Rockin
Gospel blues choir then I was caught by the sound of the bluegrass
gospel then I met Bob Rodgers who I collaborate on this tune as
a blues song ( http://www.macjams.com/song/49264 ) then still I
wished I can do it Gospel bluegrass so I gathered with Steve and
Daugh at chat and I recommended to collaborate with them on blue
grass song then they both seperatedlly suggested this is more than
bluegrass so as I sent this basic track to many friends John and
Martyn started to move into Country Swing and I loved it specially
when Steve insist to add the snare brush and fabulous dancing bass
everyone here just super ..a true stage feel I really happy I got
to be among such wonderful people ..Steve did mighty job on mixing
its a very hard hard task and sure he s the man ...Deepest bow !!!!
Big thanks to Roxy and Charles for their time and efforts
on the second vocals

yeehaw! Git yer hoe down!
Wow, this is quite a collaborative conglomeration, and it turned out really well. Despite the wide variety of talent, it is crisp and clear. Nice nice harmonizing vocals, and Feter gives just enough folksy twang without it going way south (Country) on me. Excellent work on bouncy bass and guitars, and Martyn's fiddle work is always superb. Amazing mixing job here, Kudos all!

Heart on the Road
Oh my- thought I had felt a tremor in the collaborative force. this is fantastic- great production. Vocals all around are what make this tune although that fiddle gives it the distinction and drive... the Bass is dead on - slide, mando, 6string all wonderful...all the parts fit just right.. so happy to have been able to listen to this song.

Gospel Fetergrass? I followed John's guitar, he played a solid rhythm part. Steve's production brings this track to life.

Beautifully done
Agree with Moviz about Feter's performance here. Everybody's parts shine. The mix is awesome given the number of collabs involved. The mouse clicks at the end is a proof of the freshness of the song.

Excellent job fellas

hats off .. all round goody. On the mix .. after the vocal stops around 02:00: I'd prefer more distinct solos .. sounds a bit competing/cluttered until the fiddle hops out at 2:35 .. and I'd bring down the accordian a smidge. Taste comment aside, superb slick performances .. Hayseed Dixie eat yer heart out ;o)

All these puzzle pieces fit!
Here's your real-time comment: I haven't clicked "play" yet and I KNOW this won't sound like a mess despite SO MANY collabers. Why? Because Steve's got serious studio chops. AFTER CLICKING PLAY: Tambo's a little loud for me, otherwise this fits together exceptionally well. Both voxes work great -- Roxy's support harmony is just right. ROUSING APPLAUSE for making this work so well, all!

Lots of good ole country crankin goin on here. This is just a super collab, and I'm quite sure Mr.Feter is feeling quite proud of this tune in his corral.
The recording mix through my cheap headphones at work tell me that when I get home, I'm in for a treat with my good ones.
Nice way to start my morning off.

This is a nicely arranged and composed song.
All the artist gave their all by the sound of this composition. It is a toe tapper, but it sounds like all are in the same room having a great time playing some bluegrass!!!

And the grass is blue
Good musicianship here and an enjoyable song.

You know of course that there's hardly ever drums in bluegrass? This song is a bit closer to country than bluegrass.

Enjoyed.

wow there
First of all this was a cool tune, brought me right back to the time I used to listen to the pretty famous band The Unholy model rounders out of NY-Jeffrey Fredricks stuff, anyway I enjoyed it,its not bluegrass,*cept for a grun now and then-lol,but then again I think ya know that, and this cut doesn't fall in a country or grass genre either, thats what I like bout it!

Not really bluegrass.
You are right. Some elements of bluegrass, zydeco, texas two step. New-grass. One of my favorite bands is "Nickel Creek". They tend to mix new elements with traditional blue grass instrumentation.
