Child of Eternal Love (viola, flute, piano) w/André van Haren

Description
I started this song about 13 months ago - early December of 2008. After talking to Jack (Dadai) about "sudden inspiration," I vowed to start a new Christmas song that very hour. I hummed a tune into my H2 digital recorder, and a year later this is what has become of that rough melody. I will be singing it at St. Mary's Church tomorrow, accompanied by my nylon string guitar "plucks-n-arpeggios" and Mary Joy's beautiful piano playing.

This rendition is created entirely with Sibelius 5. The viola represents the baritone voice. André van Haren did an arrangement with flute and piano which was the foundation for this instrumental version. The audio was bounced from Sibelius to WAV, to Peak Pro 6 (for normalization), then to iTunes to make the 192 kbps MP3. The piano module I use here is the TruePiano AU plugin.

Lyrics
Child of Eternal Love (v15)

[intro]

[verse 1]
God, in glory, brings a star so bright.
A Son is born in a bed of barley hay.
Behold the Savior, our New Light,
Child of Eternal Love, Shepherd of the way.

[verse 2]
Mary, full of grace, will know the sorrow and the joy
of bringing forth the One Whom the prophets long foretold.
Joseph, by her side, will help raise up the Boy,
Child of Eternal Love, Flower to unfold.

[refrain]
Praise the Father of all creation
Praise the Son who conquers death
Praise the Spirit with jubilation
Grow God's love with every breath

[interlude]

[verse 3]
In the dark of night, in the winter chill,
We lift our prayers to the Trinity above.
Oh come, new Tree of Life, our hope fulfilled:
A Child of Promise of Eternal Love.

[refrain]

Thanks.
I appreciate the comment, Jarvoid. The song can be used outside the Advent and Christmas season., especially since the third verse doxology to the Trinity is a universal theme. Calchas and I have had some in-depth chats about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Thanks, scofugate.

Making music is a labor of love...heavy lifting...trying to decipher the Rosetta Stone of music harmony, melody, color and lyricism...sifting multicolored sands.

Hello again
This would sound great in church; I hope the performance went well!

I was particularly interested that you used Sibelius 5 sounds in this submission. I've been a Sibelius user since v2 and am now on 6. The sounds are improved (using some Garritan) but the program overall crashes a LOT more than in previous versions.

Sibeliance
Thanks, Cameron. Sibelius 5 is stable enough on my MacBook (Intel Duo Core). I'm going to stay at 5 for awhile. Currently, that makes me compatible with André van Haren with whom I am collaborating. He is a good one to talk to about Sibelius. Check out his scores here: www.andrevanharen.com
