And the best thing
about this is everything you did. Cool, breezy, chill-out vibe. Many thanks for your time and talent. :)

Very cool
I am envisioning a smoke filled room in the 40s with a vixen on stage with this piece. So much has been forgotten in music. Char is special because she recalls in my mind, a time when music was entirely about the nuances of the vocal performance. Thick vibratto but not coarse. taking the vocal to the edge then bringing it back. Great job on this song.

sounds
Apart from the Rhodes piano, that's all the new u-he synth, ACE. No clue how to program it, so all presets.

You're on a roll these days, Victor
Very light touch here, just enough to keep things rolling right along. I like that gate (or volume automation) at the end of certain of Char's phrases: very fine the way 'sudden nothingness' is as compelling a sound as another instrument might be. As for u-he, I've idly played with the Zebralette; the Ace sounds brilliant!

Gate
I was hoping it wasn't that noticeable.... I've taken Char's vocals and chopped them into phrases, so that leaves dead air in between them. I'll take a close listen and see if that can be counteracted with a sidechained reverb or so.

But if you like, who am I to quibble with that.

Nice showcase
of Char's track, Vic. Perfectly subtle wrapping to bring out the melody. Chilled. I need a martini.

pitch
A little odd, sounds like she didn't sing to the music?

Could be a better re-do, I think, if she sang to the music. I like the concept very much.

Pitch
Char indeed sang in a vacuum. Harmonically speaking. I pitch corrected only the last two phrases, but decided to leave the rest intact. Some of her notes stray a little, but in the end she comes remarkably close back to the same key every time. Most singers would drop by a semitone or something if they had to sing a capella for 4 minutes.

Hey Vic and Char
This is very cool. For me personally I wish Char's vocals had been backed off some and given a tiny reverb or echo to smooth it in a little better with the mix. But the rest man is dynomite!!!

Intangible
Vic, you did a great job providing an alluring soundbed for Char's sultry vocals. Char with each vocal performance I hear tremendous growth and confidence, and your style has a unique throwback sound to it that is very appealing. Vic I think Char's vocals sound a bit boxy, well, like she recorded them in a box and while I am no expert in vocal recording as it has been many years since I recorded any kind of vocal performance myself, I wonder if it would be possible to give her voice a little different ambience or some nice subtle delay to settle her into the mix a little tighter. Regardless, an excellent contribution and collaboration!

Ambience
Ok, that's two votes for a bit more ambience on the vocals. There is actually some reverb on them, but I'll see what I can do.

really nice direction to take this in. The arrangement sounds really good and I like how you paced Char's vocals.

Pacing
Thanks. Yes, I cut the vocals in phrases, repeating occasional bits, and filled several measures, sometimes making 5 bar phrases to keep the listener unconsciously awake. So to speak....

Different
but enjoyable because of,it must be tricky appending a music track over a freeform vocal and I think you got this one down pat..I could neither sing as well as Char has..A Capella or otherwise nor lay down a subsequent track so Kudos and fair play t'ya guv...Cheers Jarvo

Very clever
working a backing around an unaccompanied vocal is not easy but this works well and still leaves the vocals centre stage.

nice combination
of vocals and accompaniment. Very tasteful background, good support. Sometimes it seems that the vox and the instrumental are coming from two completely different soundspaces, but overall everything fits together reasonably well. You have a very good touch with choice of sounds and pacing.

I'm not really familiar with Char's voice so I will check out more of her tunes. She has a unique sound.
