Description
This is the last of my collaborations with Katchoolik that was originally posted under his name about three years ago. Katch did the percussion, bass, and most guitar. I wrote the lyrics and melody. I think this was originally called Lies but I think Conusion more mirrors my thoughts these days. I have remixed my vocals and added some lead guitar. My guitar is the one with the funky, fuzz tone.

Lyrics
You turn on the TV and you watch the news
It's so confusing, nothing seems true

Secret people in a secret world, government lies to you
Seems everyone has got a secret, how about you

When they tell a lie, When they tell a lie, no one believes the truth

Money talks and money swears, greed is everywhere
House of cards is falling down, nothing is real

Secret police have your number, they're watching you
1984 was twenty years too soon

When they tell a lie, When they tell a lie, no one believes the truth

Good to see
you posting Tom. Hopefully you'll be back around the MJ Reunion Festival time (starts on Feb 1st).
Also good to hear Johnny again - that's been a real long while!
Nice tune - and good playin' and singin'. Harmonies work well, and there's something about the chord sequence that I really like. too.
Cheers, Neil

Thanks
for the reality check. Like your singing on this. Like the instrumentation.

Like the bass and how it follows the rest of the instrumentation. Like your high notes you sing too!, all your singing is fun to hear !

Two guys I've missed....
You and John Katchoolik....

I like the doubling on the vocal.... Good sway to the feel, and like the lyrics....

I like the tone on the lead guitar break...

Good to see you here again...

Guitars, guitars
Love that fuzzy guitar, all under the song. At 2:30 the song starts to roll so fine... before that it was almost constrained, but of course, I figured that out after the change on the drums :-)
Great vocals!

Confusion
A good piece of work. It's good to hear the instruments and the words clearly. I like the pace and the understated guitars, especially the slide. Well done and thank you!

Great!
Awesome riffs, great lyrics, and overall, one heck of a cool song man. Our government is indeed lying to us on a steady basis, and I for one am on to their game. Thanks for sharing this track with us.

The Word
It is always wise to take anything with a grain of salt until you can get as much information as possible from as many different sources as possible. When I was growing up there was one newspaper, two or three tv channels and a bunch of bubblegum on the radio. Now with the internet, cable tv and even some of the talk radio shows, you can usually figure out when there are flaws in the story. You still don't know for sure what is going on but you can make an educated guess at least. The one I always fall back on is a varitation of the "follow the money trail". I look to see who has something to gain from the events that took place and then ask myself if that makes more sense than the "official story".
