Description
This is a more dressed-up (in Ren garb, of course) re-recording of one of my first MacJams contributions for the 2010 Reunion Festival.

Here is a list of tracks in order of addition to the project:

Track 1: Udu drum loop.
Track 2: Electric guitar plugged straight into the board, neck pickup, moderate reverb added.
Track 3: Electric guitar with Vox practice amp, moderate overdrive and reverb.
Track 4: Hammered dulcimer with only slight reverb (HD's have a lot of natural reverb).
Track 5: Low whistle with moderate reverb.
Track 6: Electric bass plugged straight into the board, no reverb.

Like the Hank Marvin version
Interesting version of a classic. I really like this as its completely different to any other version. Cool middle eastern vibe as well. Cool track.

Odds Bodikins
in sooth to say sirrah you have stumbled verily upon a theme of much interestingly and diversley played instrumentataion. It priketh me in mine corage and ascendant pon the ear doth fall lightly and genteel that.

Nice hat
I love the photo. Man, I'm envious of that hat. I've always liked this melody. It connects to so many generations past, a different speed of life.

stunning variation
Jim, this is absolutely beautiful. There are many reasons why. First of all, it is hard to go wrong with this gorgeous melody, well chosen. Secondly, you have added your own little twists to it that make it refreshingly unique, but without "weird-for-the-sense-of-weird", but instead, just warm personalization of the tune. Third, the "Ventures"-style electric guitar as lead seems so perfect, and I do not know why... it just fits. Fourth, OK, I am a sucker for RenFaires, just add 3 points for the picture and thought. Fifth, the fact that you are playing the bass, guitar, whistle, udu, and hammered dulcimer sort of boggles my mind... that is a lot of talent you have there! Sixth, great mix! And Seventh (because we should all end on an odd note), really marvelous arrangement... elegant and annoyingly short... I wanted it to go on about twice as long :-)

Mix
The mix is so near perfect I can see all the musicians playing. Great combination of old and new instruments too . . .

Sounds from a time ....
when music was everywhere and anytime. I agree with IC, the Ventures guitar style suits this piece well. Nice job with all those instruments!

Scarborough Faire
Love the percussion loop and the simplicity of the rhythmic guitar. The melody is a beautiful classic, what can I say about it...
Only minor thing (that is probably on purpose), the first guitar is slightly out of tune to my ears. That doesn't affect the vibe of the song though (it even add some character to it).
Very well done. Lovely. Now I need to go to one of those faires!

I tend to play lead...
...in a "vertical" fashion, and it's been a while since I really checked my intonation, so you could be right on in being slightly out of tune. I also tend to get a bit overzealous with the whammy bar. I should make a note to myself to check my intonation every time I tune.

Anyway, thanks for the comments.

Cheers,
Jim
