Lyrics
still smoldering, the dead tree by the side of the road, lit yesterday by who knows who. a knife folded in ash-soiled and bloodied clothes, whose deed whose blood no-one knows, who knows whose. a man, wandering, is locked up in the next town south. no charges laid, no body found.

Great!
This is a really nice piece of music. The vocals almost remind me of some Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. The guitar sounds really cool with pretty licks in the middle. I maight miss a little bit more volume on the percussion, but the whole feel of the song does not really ask for that. Really good job here.

thanks for the listen
Upon reflection I am remxing this and having another look at the percussion. I really think the drum layer certainly needs to come up during the solo. I appreciate the feedback.

Beautiful song
The layers of voices and guitars are so well done. I didn't notice a discrepancy in the timing or pitch. Cool chord progression. And cool video too. Where is that place?

thanks
yeah, I got real lucky with the vocals here. Just banging them out in the one session means I captured the same room feel and my voice was in the same condition - I thinks this contributes to a very tight, blended sound.
I shot the video in what I'm told is called Blackwood Forest, near Nannup in Western Australia. An apt name, I guess. It was a dreary but beautiful day.

Dig the melody and smooth harmonies. The stripped down arrangement with just acoustic & tambourine works great. Very tasty lead part (hearing the Knopfler in this). Love the way it intertwines with other guitar. Nice! Top notch original tune and production.

Knopfler
You've just love his approach to the guitar and I am finally coming to realise that I will never put in the practice and demonstrate the tenacity to become a techncal master like Vai or Satch.
it's all about feel from here on out.

interesting
I wasn't exactly going for 'ethereal' initially but when I noticed it I knew this tune would really suit the video I had lying around. a lot of things really came together on this one.

this song
is like a warm blanket. Lush harmonies- particularly like the deep barratone (sp?) the lead is very tasty ala John mayer with just the right amount of bite. A wandering river of a song. Just gorgeous as usual. DL'd and iPod'd.
Thx Dan,

remarkable
The playing on this is remarkable. The vocals and words speak right to me. I love this melody and how you have recorded the harmonies. The melody guitar in the break gives me goose bumps. I don't thing you have been on my radar.Lyrics as poetry is such a delight. Thanks a bunch. The video works well too!
