Lyrics
Personal Theory of Relativity
(Warren Smith 2010)

The older you get the faster time moves
The older you get the faster time moves
It seems like yesterday
Is so far away so far away
I was a little tyke riding on a bike
Thrilled to glide in a world so wide
Always wanting to go faster
I guess I got what I wished for
Because time is moving faster

Today is the day I turn 60
Today is the day I turn 60
When I was 10 I liked to pretend
When I was 20 I had pastures plenty
When I was 30 my thoughts were dirty
When I turned 40 I crashed the barrier
When I turned 50 the earth had shifted
My production was prodigious
And I felt gifted
But now that I'm 60 - who knows what’s left to be said?
Are my best days behind me
Or do they still wait ahead?
Who knows what lies ahead?

You can burn my bones
Throw my ashes to the wind
You can burn my bones
And throw my ashes to the wind
When the Nor’easter comes whistling
It sounds like a poem
When that North Wind is howling
I hear a song
When that snowstorm is blasting
I feel at home
I came in with a blizzard
That's how I want to go out again

Cute!
Let's hope you find the Fountain of Perpetual Middle Age! I think when people show the kind of talent and creativity you displayed here, age doesn't exist. This was great--thanks for sharing! Michael

Day by day
Ha-ha, clever comment. Perpetual Middle Age sounds great, especially to the alternative of Senior Moment Encroachment. I'm just taking it one song at a time.

Speed of Time
Maybe you should give serious thought to changing your moniker from "fast" to "sloweddie" to forestall that aging thing?

Thanks for checking out my song and leaving a comment.

Hee Hee
I'm hearing you matey I am hearing you, this is very true for us all and it makes me,sort of,happy that it is not just me...crazy style and delivery sort of a rap but not quite....and brim with mirth at the life time lined artwork......still the alternative don't bear thinking about do it....Creat one Warren really enjoyed. Chris.

Head shots
It started out as a blues song, but even I didn't want to hear a whine about the aches and pains of aging, so I was glad when the lyrics started becoming a little more philosophical.

The time line was tricky. I could find a lot of photos of myself from various stages of life, but not many were close-ups capable of enlarging and staying sharp enough as a head shot.

Thought provoking
Warren just think of yourself as a trail blazer for all of us who are teetering on the edge of 50 and like you wondering where it all went. Just follow the footsteps of those who went before and reassure those who are going to follow!! Cheers mark

50
Ahh .. I remember when 50 seemed such a big deal : )

I like to think that making songs out of life experiences, whether good or bad, helps slow the inevitable passage of time for a little while.

Thanks for commenting on my song and I will check out your postings.

I really identify with this
It seemed like only yesterday I was 10 and now I'm just a couple of years from my 7th decade as well.

I think if you keep on turning out such off the wall stuff as this your best years are still to come.

Brilliant work!

Cheers

Born in a Minnesota blizzard, I'm now residing in a coastal heat of Brooklyn, New York City. I recorded my first original composition as a teenager using a reel-to-reel tape recorder back in 1967, and I'm still finding it a creative challenge... [see more]
