Cosmic Horizons

Description
There are horizons we can see and there are those horizons that are so vast and far away that even our imagination fails us. We hold on for the ride and hope that some day we'll appreciate the grandness of creation. We move on, ever towards that distant place where there's always a new beginning to behold.

Both time and space are but constructs of our consciousness and, without us there would be Now. No need for a past or a future. Why would there be?

Put you headphones on, shut out the world and enjoy the ride.

This is another old variation that I've found and finalised. Let me know what your thoughts are....

Very powerful
I honestly don't know how you put these epics together, I wouldn't have the patience for such a long number. It's very powerful music. It ebbs and flows. Indeed, it's hard to believe that something so cosmic sounding was made using a tiny laptop.

Excellent sir.

Hi Dave......
I start off with a MIDI file, multitrack it and arrange sounds, on each track, that fit well. I then work on three copies of the finished music track and leave one clean, one has reverb of some sort added and the last track has width added, if required. That's it. I would work with more tracks but the computer can't keep up!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Take care.

Hi Ramonaji.......
I sometimes get lost in these pieces as I create them. Listening sometimes, if I still myself first, I can jump off of a cliff and hover, above the abyss below. The trick is daring to jump in the first place.

I'm very happy that you enjoyed the trip.

Take care.

Paul

Hi Michael.....
Go around the block as many times as you want. The ride is perpetual and ends at the beginning, to start over again.

There are a couple more old mixes that I will upload over the next little while, then I'm done for now. They will take you elsewhere, on another journey.

Take care.

Hi WR......
If my mix evoked memories and emotions then I can rest easy. It's good to know that ssomething comes off OK in my ideas/mixes/soundscapes.

Thanks for stopping by for the ride.

Take care.

well well well
look who's back. and I'm behind on listening yet again. but yay to see you! this piece is mind=blowing Paul. You have such an extraordinary sense of pace and flow - not to mention an enormous amount of patience to let this unfold as it wants to and not how YOU want it to. I love that there are no expectations about this piece. It's simply a relaxing journey into the unknown - feeling safe with you as my tour guide and just enjoying the awe that presents itself. deep and beautiful synth sounds, a full spectrum of tastes and textures. overall the piece felt a little less "rich" than some of your other stuff - like it was compressed more than usual or something. but wow Paul, this is epic.

Hi Shay.......
This piece really wouldn't have made it onto here once upon a time but I'm not into any half decent new stuff so thought I'd upload this as a memory of old. You're correct about it being less rich, and I would have had to redo it to bring it up to spec. so I took the easy way out; put a fade-out on the end and here you have it.

It's relatively easy for me to do stuff such as this, normally, as I just do takes until something comes along that I like more and then I stick with that to engineer some width and depth into it. This is just one of the out takes. Well spotted.

If you felt safe whilst on a journey with me, then that's made my day complete. Mission accomplished, and thanks for the kind thoughts.

Take care.

so glad to see you back. have always been a huge fan of your stuff and happy to hear more. interesting to read how you put this together. this is beautiful. really nicely mixed too, there are some really nice little subliminal bits in there that don't pop their heads up too loudly. you really have to be quiet and listen for them. great track. glad to see you around again.

Hi Michael........
I'm back, for a short time, putting up old stuff. The new stuff I've produced this year has all been sooooo Dark Ambient that I wouldn't subject anyone to it here at MJ's. It's also been experimental as well, so I've kept it all locked down on my hard drive.

The sparklies and subliminal sparklies are something that I enjoyed putting into my mixes. I used those as my Ambient trade mark. There are a few more old mixes waiting in the wings, with various subliminals, so they'll be popping up over the next little while.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my soundscapes. It gives me encouragement.

Take care.

Hi Dan......
It's good of you to stop by and listen to my soundscapes. They all paint a picture of some sort. My challenge is always to make the soundscape evoke the same picture that I see. The soundscapes err towards large expanses of mostly outer space but some, such as this, evoke other pictures.

Take care.

In the now
Would that we could live that way. Another master work. It lacks emotion, which I find interesting in itself. I think it sounds like the universe just existing, with no regard for us. No sadness, no joy, just a state of pure being. It is what it is. As long as some of your pieces are, they still end too soon, right in mid-sentence. I imagine the sounds go on, but I am cut off.

Hi Duane.......
Your thoughts are so perceptive that I seriously think you have tuned into my thought waves. When you remove emotion you have to put something in there to fill the gap. You put in compassion, which needs no adrenalin to evoke. It can be given to anybody, anything and at any time. It is a 'state of Being' one with everything else and is not seperative.

The universe doesn't have regard for us. As such it doesn't care. It just IS. Again this is not seperative.

Take care.
