Description
This was something I started about 2 weeks ago when I wondered if I could make some music using the sounds of the sea.

In it you will hear sounds from Blue, Gray, Humpback, and Sperm whales as well as Orcas, Porpoise, Sea Lions, and the ever present Sea Gulls. Of course it wouldn't be complete without the sounds of the sea as well.

I also put in a human heartbeat that slows down in the beginning of the piece to reflect on how the sea has a calming effect when you just sit and listen to it as if lives and breathes.

To this I added some music in the form of loops that I carefully manipulated to go along with the sounds that the sea has provided.

My hope is that in listening, you will be calmed and that you will enjoy this visit to a place both alien and familiar at the same time.

I hope you enjoy "The Sea Project"

Ed

I love
the sea! Live near to it and some of the music I've made myself has been inspired by it's sounds and creatures, so I'm all ears for this one!

This is really well put together I think, but maybe a little too busy with regards to the sounds of all the creatures. You can hear them all yes, a really good mix, but have you thought of maybe extending the whole piece, or slowing it down, and bringing the sounds in one at a time and not altogether?

I love the way the heartbeat comes in, [maybe this should be audible through the whole piece] and especially the guitar/bass work in the first half. The melancholy string section that introduces the excellent funky guitar is really nice.

Those are some good ideas. I might have to revisit this one and make some adjustments. Thanks for the in depth (no pun intended) review. Gives me some food for thought.

Glad you liked it even with te suggestions my friend.

Thanks again for listening so closely. It's always good to get a second set of ears spotting for you.

Be well and be cool, Dave

Thanks Andrew
It's really just an experiment to see what I could do with the various sounds I'd gathered. Always a lot of fun trying something new.

Thanks again for the listen and the kind words, Andrew.

Kind of a change for you Ed
but, as usual, well done. It is good I think, to stretch yourself occasionally outside your normal comfort zone.

It's to easy to get stuck in a rut,
if you don't stretch out once in awhile. Just wanted to see if I could make something pleasing to the ear using these sounds. Mucho fun let me tell you.

Thanks for listening Richard, glad you liked the way it turned out. Thanks again for the kind words.

Be well and be cool,

Funny thing,
Davahonah suggested it was too busy in places. Both of you are right of course, which sounds like a contradiction, but actually it's not. What works for one, could use adjusting for another.

Thanks for the listen Jim, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again for the kind words.

I was hoping for that reaction, but you never know if you've got it right or not. I guess it depends on the listener.

Thanks for the col comment Dave.

Thank you Karen
I started this about 2 weeks ago, just to see if I could turn the whale's songs into some kind of musical piece. It was experimental, but I am pleased with it. There are things I might change in a possible future revision, but time will tell.

I'm please that you liked my little experiment Karen, and I appreciate your very kind words on it.

Thanks again for listening.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

I have missed you Ed!
This is terrific. I really enjoyed listening to this song! Funny how animals, or mammals, have such an effect on us sometimes. This is very soothing. Thanks for sharing it with us Ed. You are so good.

I've missed you too Gail
I haven't seen you post in a long time, but looks like you got one up now. Hope everything has been okay by you.

Thanks for listening, and for the kind words Gail, they are so much appreciated. I'm glad you found this piece soothing. That's what I was hoping for. You're right about how other creatures can have that effect on a person, as long as we take time to watch them and admire them for the gifts they really are.

Thanks you again Gail

Be well and be cool, my friend

I saw Earth (2007) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0393597/
Yesterday and this is just right in time, very nice done my friend. We have to save the whales but not only them all the innocent animals in our earth. One more thing who worries me a lot is this oil in the gulf, what are we doing to our sea, we can't live like we do now we have to change our behavior otherwise we are domed.

Thanks for sharing this my friend, I take an x and come to enjoy it many times.. Peace, Kenta

All life is precious
and while we sit here listening, we can be reminded of that through the music. This is more an experiment in sound than a political statement, but it really is a reminder of out stewardship of this planet we call home. If we screw this up beyond repair, where will we go to find another.

Glad you liked this piece Kenta. Thanks for you insightful comments my friend.

Ed
