Glacier Bells

Description
Piano improvisation served with ice bells and a side of tabla in a bed of chimes (a friend's recording of various wind chimes actually). Over 100°F today and since I always seem to be working on projects I can't freely post here it seems like the perfect day to share a chilled no calorie cocktail of weightless gelid air.

On a side note - I enjoy finding new instrument combinations and sounds, but after listening to this again, it reminded me of Vangelis's 'Himalaya' which I had listened to countless times a long time ago when I was searching for a more spiritual lifestyle. I guess when music evokes some emotions or aspirations beyond the ordinary, those inner treasures stay with you long after you have forgotten the name of the song. Unlikely to happen with this post, but it's still a nice thought that music can do something like that, isn't it :)

bells
wow, what an incredible sound, and realised composition. The percussion is a nice touch. Tinges of Tangerine Dream i think, in places. That way it is all put together though is an ear treat.

As the name suggests
This is enormously cool.
Really.

Love that even with the sparseness of the arrangement, you still manage to create this lush, vivid and almost warm soundscape.

This is a fine example of why you're one of the best MJers around.
There! I said it!

Love it.

Maybe not
TD... more of that laid back Vangelis feel especially in the piano's chord progressions and trills. Great in every way. Genius work Pari my friend.

Your music DOES do that..it stays with me
This is gorgeous and gave me chill bumps. Always so excited to see an email notice that you have a new one up as I adore every note of your music. The chimes added a new taste for me and your piano as always, wonderful! This is terrific and thank you so much for sharing such talent with us.

Our inspirations...
...stay with us forever.

Not familiar with "Himalaya"...but I did really enjoy Vangelis.

And: I certainly enjoyed THIS. Got up to 105 degrees, here, today. This is a very, very nice escape. Thanks.

Love your work.

Delicate
Vangelis in all the good ways, but with a more updated sound palette. I love the slow build and the way the bells and piano interact musically and randomly. Beautiful!

Thank you!
I enjoyed this a lot. You know you are in for a treat when there is a new Parichayaka in the mailbox, and this is no exception. We have had a warm period here too so I liked the cooling effect as well ;-)

I can also hear the similarity with Himalaya (as I remember it, I don't seem to have it in iTunes :-/ ) I agre totally with your thoughts on music and emotions that stick to it. It is hard to describe in words, but some music acts like Proust's Madeleine cookies(?), sending you decades back in time to emotions and places you haven't been since.

Take care,
Henke

Winter music in summer...
It has all the attributes of your best work — a calming quality, delectable sonic treats, and soulful depth — that make for rewarding repeated listenings. It's always a good day when I hear a new track of yours!

100 degrees, eh? That's awfully uncomfortable! We haven't had summer come to our North Atlantic island yet; it was about 46 ° f. a couple of evenings ago at my son's baseball game. There are rumours that summer may show up later this week, but I don't know...

glacial journey
never heard of ice bells, but this is really cool. excellent use of the wind chimes. my favorite part of this piece is the ambient sounds and textures that are moving all throughout the background. I love the deep water kind of sounds. another excellent piece of sound design full of depth and and movement.

Bells of ice
Superb. Amongst your many examples here of musical wizardry, I love the quieter bit at 2:40 - just enough time to stop and let the cool breezes wash over us before the bass leads us to move on. Speaking of bass, it's very clever how you use it against all the higher and more delicate tones to keep the whole thing grounded.

Tres cool.

Thanks for the dload!
Doug

What piano
are you using? It has such a rich bass and crisp treble. I very much like this improv that is so carefully planned and executed. Your thoughtful placement of the bells and subtle percussion is just perfect and help to create an atmosphere that is calmly chilling but sparkly. It is so nice to be hearing your music again.

Haven't been by in a while. Its nice to know you can still be the chiropractor for the soul. Good food, taken deep and giving refreshment and growth. I felt like I was on a pilgrimage or a caravan journey across the frozen ice fields.
