Description
I sent a skeleton track off to Tempie and he sent me back his vox and the horns while i filled in the blanks. Craig did a great job putting his interpretation to this track, we hope you enjoy.

This is possibly not Reggae.

This song is dedicated to Sam and Jack two Aussie mates, that made a summer
happen in winter. Diamond geezers. Above pic.

I am off tho Spain soon, as apparently they have a summer in their country.

Lyrics
open the screen door
your aunt's on the couch
watching the tv
your little brothers chillin out
they want to wrestle me
so i throw them around
knock over the lamp
your aunt yells to calm down
put my finger to my lips
and i walk into the kitchen
where you're sittin on the fire escape
listenin to the street singing
kids laughing playing in the johnny pump
somebody sweeping the street
stacatto double dutch jump
women laughing telling stories on the stoop
boys poised wet
with sweat at the hoop

hola bienvenido al barrio
it's summertime
so subir el estereo
yeah
hola bienvenido al barrio
it's summertime
so pump up the stero

stand on the landing
put my hand in your hair
looking down on the street
at all the people walking there
and i dont mind the heat
out on the fire escape stairs
you sitting next to me
i could be happy anywhere but i'm
glad to be a pigeon on this rusty iron perch
i got the bird's eye view of
my own piece of this earth
i got a bird's eye view
of my heart in the street
that beats with the thump
of the bass behind the seats

hola bienvenido al barrio
it's summertime
so subir el estereo
yeah
hola bienvenido al barrio
it's summertime
so pump up the stero

well the heat
rises up from the street in waves
we're dazed
the haze is like a glaze
on the fire escape stairway
whole place seems about to melt
drip into the gutter like paint
it's spell't
m-o-n-t-a-n-a
the people to the hand to the can to the spray
look uh oh
woops there it goes
all of us together in a rainbow flow
you and me
the cars and trees
the birds to the bees to the river to the sea

What?
your not enjoying this rain? Strange :)
Excellent signature Tokai coolness bedding. The hot vox are dripping in swagger. I'm getting that reggae reggae light sauce and it's MEAN! Seriously cool lyrics. Loving this one guys.
tokai said 2467 days ago (August 22nd, 2010)
The
rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain. Ah yes the weather, don't we love to talk about that here. Not many places get 4 seasons in one day.

Now then thanks mate, the lyrics are great, something upbeat form the darkness, possibly the difference between Montana and Bristol?

i meant to explain that...
montana is the brand of spray paint favored by taggers in the US. they market to them, selling small, hide-able cans and hoodies with inside, can-sized pockets...

The pic was soooooooooooooo disturbing I had to hit play and scroll down as quick as possible. Thank God the computer didn't lock up.

Great track. Such a cool lazy groove. The bass just throbs! Great bass sound and line. The electric guitars just wash over the listener. The vocal recalls the Beastie Boys at their best.

Please tell me when this goes on my iPod the pic doesn't go there too!

The music is great... flows nicely and that bass line is sweet.

Craig's lyrics are excellent! Very descriptive and seem to really capture the moment.

I wouldn't know
about the heat rising up from the streets, but it paints are really good picture of a summer street scene. I will play this in Spain to see if it fits the image better.

Thanks Mike for your observations.

A snapshot
of summer. What a nice picture of the streets in the lyrics. And the rapping vox sounds so original and good on top of the dark and dense ambient in the music. The bass line with those dissonances are a treat. Yeah the bass is playing a reggae but the rest of the band is hanging from cloud 11.

hi mate. A snapshot of summer, like that and you are right there. This bass s so easy to play, one day my brother will take it away from me, so i guess i try to use it as often as i can and record endless tracks with just drum and bass lines. Cool description my friend.

SO GOOD!
I adore the dark & dreamy music - its mood is powerful and slightly menacing, with a touch of spaciousness thrown in. Those lyrics are sublime for this piece, and Craig spits em in our faces with THE perfect attitude. Love the way this comes across as a beautifully integrated combo of excellent elements. Way to go, guys!

I hope I used that term appropriately. Blingland. I'm a bof. What is it? Eh, doesn't matter. This is such a unique piece of work. Fantastic, sparse soundbed. Tokai trademark sound. I've used that ambient voice in some of my ambient stuff. Sounds great here. Tempie's delivery is insistent and authentic. Really good mix, also. That bass is sounding good. Great work, gents. Definitely not reggae, but what the hell.
