Description
Anyone remember Jim Carroll? Truman Capote? something was happening in the 70's that stuck with me and that was the culture, a culture i had no access to but when i heard the song 'People who Died' from jim, i believe i felt it, and it was coming in through the radio as well as the T.V. I heard it in his voice, and saw it on the Tele. it shocked me , scared me, woke me up from my suburban slumber, i didn't know i was sleeping in.
The feeling never left me, but i was never able to grasp it in any form that i could say was my voice, but when i got on a plane headed out to california (a big theme with me) and was reading a book about the life and tribulations of Truman Capote in late 70's, bang i started writing. by the time the plane landed i knew it was all there. I headed to my friends (Marc Danziesen) garage studio, and he sez', i've got this thing i think is for you, and i sat behind the drum kit, he jumped his les paul in and off we went, and a truer song may not ever come out of me. T.V. is our guide
You should notice we are trying to sound like 'the catholic school boys', jim's backing band

Lyrics
killing me with kindness
i cannot tell a lie
truman capote coldness
has blackened up my eye
a song inside the singing
edie sedgwick is my high
insidious has shaped a heart
a vapid lullaby
he made you all uncomfortable
he tells it to your wife
he knows he's unforgiven
ashe reads into the night
america can't save him
hang him out to dry
his arguments emotional
yet who cares if he cries

i'll take you
you take him
we'll take her tonight
kill 'em all with kindness
into the other side
the neked and the dead are here
thats no big suprise
kill 'em all with k k k
T.V. is our guide

andy warhol was a legend
as seen through t.v.'s eyes
a factory repeats itself
if you can crawl inside
the never ending darkness
was ended by the sight
mick jaggers sh sh shaking hips
throws a brand new light on it

i'll take you
you take him
we'll take her tonight
kill 'em all with kindness
into the other side
the naked and the dead are here
thats no big suprise
kill 'em all with k k k
T.V. is our guide

through the outlet
through the wall
off the satellite
down the hall
another email
another call
another publisher
come to buy it all

hey edie andy mickified
are you here tonight
i know that truman said this
he cannot tell a lie
he whispers in his little voice
and dolce vita style
he put the ice into the glass
and cracks a crooked smile

i'll take you
you take him
we'll take her tonight
kill 'em all with kindness
into the other side
the naked and the dead are here
thats no big suprise
kill 'em all with k k k

Energy
I love that feeling of excitement when a whole song tumbles out of you in one long blurp adn then it just has to be recorded as soon as possible, ( whilst it's still really fresh) This has that "punk/new wave" energy I remember so well from school days in the late 70's. Interesting lyrics as well. great stuff d/l ta mark

thats the way....
i started writting tunes, and it still is working for me now. when you hear the shooting star passing near your psyche, grab it and put it to something, a guitar, a piano, a vocal recording, whatever it takes, they all come from there, cheers

thx, iggy is maybe the first glimpse i saw of anything "punk" after hearing the motor city five and it blowing me away. what can i say i have a thing for that mid-west flavor of pure rock. i can't change it in me, it keeps coming out, so i'll hope you keep listening. all the best, o.

Power
Great energy! This is the second song of yours I've listened to, and I like that you're bashing together styles and sounds that are familiar but slightly off the radar. Makes for a good time and a refreshing change of pace from standard 'indie' fare. Carry on.
