Description
"Scary Story MJ Style - Halloween Jam Spooktacular! - with Einarus

Einarus and I started on this project almost immediately after the Sept 8th beginning and we were notified that we would be working together.
We got off to a good start when I sent Einar a track I'd had hanging around for years and he sent it back the next day morphed into a very cool background music bed.
We discussed what direction we wanted to go and settled on a Radio Play story format, with sound effects and incidental music. I would provide the story and sound effects and Einar would provided the music.

Unfortunately life has a habit of getting in the way of plans sometimes and Einar got very busy with school so he didn't get as much done on the music part of this piece as we had hoped. He did however supply me with several critical music beds that worked well to tie the story together and  two very effective pieces he called "Revelation", and "Pre-suspense" both used at very an important place in the story.
So even as busy with school as he was, Einar provided some critical incidental music that helped this story work. I thank him for his efforts and cooperation, especially under the difficult circumstances he faced on the home front:

Of course Einar and I, now await your judgement on our efforts worked.

Einar:
"Halloween" - Music used throughout the play as a backdrop and mood setter for the story.
"Revelation" - Music use as the backdrop for the telling of the truth
"Pre-suspense" - a critical piece for setting the mood and dynamics at this point in the story
"Low Pad" - an underlying music bed to compliment and supplement "Halloween"

sloparts:
Writing, Story & Production
Character dialog & voices
Sound Effects
All other incidental music.
Arrangement, Engineering and Mixing.

65 tracks were used in this project.
7 vocal tracks,
12 sound effects tracks for the confrontation,
11 tracks for vehicle & other sound effects,
12 tracks for environment and weather,
23  tracks for theme, commercial, & Incidental musical.

( These 35 tracks contain more than 120 different sound effect )

Perfect!
I've been watching a bunch of old Bela Lugosi movies the past few days and this would fit in perfectly with those. This is a great work, you two. A fun story and some great music to go along with it. I cant even imagine the task of putting this together. Very impressive. And love the commercials. A great kick off for the Spooktacular!

Monumental, Joe
Well, not really, but there are a lot of things going on it it. But it was more fun than anything else, really. Then when you ad in Einar's fantastic musical underpinnings and accents you have a recipe for and old time a Radio Drama in HiDef.

Thanks for listening Joe, and the kind words.

After doing this little Drama,
I am in awe of the people that do this for a living and crank out a new story every week. I realize there are more than two people working on the projects they do, but still, the creativity they show in writing this stuff and producing the finished product in such a short time is amazing.

Thanks for listening Char, and for the kind words.

Hello my friend
Actually I used Bela Lugosi as the model and his was a Romanian accent if I've got my facts straight. No matter, it was great fun trying to get in character for the role. That hardest part was getting the female lead "Ava" to sound somewhat credible, and I almost made it there. nut not quite.

All in all it was a fun adventure to do this one. One made even better by Einar's work supplying the musical background and accents needed for the play.

Thanks for listening Yves, and for the kind words.

Be well and be cool, and say hi to Catherine and the kids for me.

Obviously a lot of those 65 tracks only had small sound effect bits and musical accents, but trying to keep track of where everything was was a little hectic.

Still, with Einar's help we managed to pull it off in time for the Spooktacular.

Thanks for listening my friend and for the kind words.

Thanks for the great comments Andrew
Really glad you enjoyed the show. We tried to make this like those old radio shows from back in the 30's and 40's, so when I wrote the script and laid out the scenes for the sound effects, I tried to do it in a way where the listeners would be able to create visual pictures in their minds as the story progressed. That's why it took so many tracks, because the sounds going on are what help the listener see what's happening in the story, but inside their mind instead of on a silver screen.

Glad you enjoyed the show Andrew. thanks again for the kind words.

Ed

I listen...
to a radio station that airs oldie radio programs here in Calgary. 770 AM radio would probably air this on Halloween and except for the production and sound quality (this being far and away superior) this would fit seamlessly into the night. Excellence in every regard my friend.

Yeah I know,
they just keep getting longer and more involved each time I do one of these things, Maurice. And since "The Outhouse of Life" cast and crew consists of me, myself, and I, it can get a bit hectic.

But there are benefits. First of I don't have to share my profits in these ventures with anyone, and I can sleep late without anyone complaining about me not being on the set at 5:30 in the morning for a rehearsal.

Of course one of the draw back is trying to keep all the voices in me head under control when I'm out and about in the real world.

Thanks for the listen Mate. I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

Take care, be well, and be cool,

Ed

I knew it wasn't all that scary,
but I wanted it to be interesting in the way a 1940's radio drama is, rather than scary as perceived by a 2010 movie audiences.

It was a lot of work, but it was also fun to do. My only hope was that everyone would enjoy it for what it is.

Thanks for listening Sigmund, and for the very kind words on it.

Glad you enjoyed the show.

The hardest part for me was coming up with the ending. The rest just fell into place and wasn't a problem.

You could say I took the easy way out with the dream sequence at the end, and I did have some other ideas, but it was already nearly 15 minutes into the show and I hadn't put an ending on it.

The other endings I envisioned would have run it out to 20 or 25 minutes and that would have made it way too long, and to big a file to upload. As it is, at 128bit it's a 19.9MB file.

Thanks for listening my friend, and the kind comments on it.

Can you say Spell ?
I knew you could. But can you spell Spell ?

I love that you made the female the hero in this one. I even like the way you never let the man find out the real truth about her.

An interesting diversion which I shall pronounce good.
