Flute loop zero

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
This is the record of one live looping session. I used the 4 track Everyday Looper on the iPad to record and mix tracks as I went along. I've only cut out some repeats, and done mastering in Logic. Otherwise, I can play this whole thing live.

This is just an experiment, and future looping session will have fewer glitches.

What the...?
Firsties...must be some kind of first for me !!
I can hear some parts here and there....minute(tiny)parts where there seems to be a hesitancy in what I presume is a loop...But it does not detract from the overall image that is like a bunch of guys in a sweatlodge or around a camp fire just playing for fun...is it a roundelay when you repeat over and somebody adds on top?

Nice
Sounds like this could be the start of some really cool ideas. Are you planning to put some pieces together to do live? I can see this going really far as your learning curve develops. Cool tune!

That's the idea
My CD is totally not performable live, but I want to do something with live fluting, and not just play solos, or playing over a jam track. So I've started looking at looping software. Everyday Looper is attempt #1. Next up Mobius, Augustus Loop, and various ensembles built in Plogue Bidule.

While the iPad is quite nifty, it needs your hands, and I really want to do this with footswitches, for which purpose I have an FCB 1010.

PS
apparently the new iOS will have Midi, so maybe the iPad will be the platform of choice anyway!

This is a neat area to explore...
I have often wondered whether I should try doing something with a looping pedal, or whether I'd make a hash of it... I hate embarking on new learning curves.... Kudos to you, Vic, for once again striking out in a new direction...

Nice____
Victor you are "The Man" when it comes to playing the wind instruments you play. I believe (and you may not agree) if you would have applied a bit of delay and reverb in areas this could have been (not that it isn't as is) a bit more airy and ...new age - and even play on some of the ambient internet radio stations I listen to.

I like it very much - Nice work Victor

Enjoyed - Thanks for sharing,

mvh : )

live looping
is really, really difficult. This is very impressive work. I know of some harmonica players and acoustic guitarists who use this to great effect (Brandon Bailey, Sergio Altamura). I think you did a great job, and the playing is so expressive. I love the sound you're getting at, and the way the raw sound layers for this smooth swell of music. Have you looked into a loopstation?

Awesome work.

Original
and intriguing. This becomes hympnotic after a while which I guess was the intention when the original native Americans played similar stuff, ( without the loops!!). Enjoyed a lot. Cheers mark
