Description
This is my first submission using Logic Pro, which I got for Christmas. After years of using Garageband, I'm feeling like a newbie again-all excited and tingly! I have a lot of woodshedding to do, especially with mixing/mastering. Constructive criticism is welcome (as always).

Lyrics
Another night, a drink in my hand
Another night with my head in the sand
I look at the bottle, it's almost through
But I can't stop thinking of you

Inside there's a hole in the wall
Broken glass and blood in the hall
Can't say this is a surprise
Knew it was coming by the look in your eyes.

It's our favorite game to play
Run to each other, then run away
Can't seem to just let go
Ridin' high or ridin' low

C'mon baby don't play rough
I don't want to have to call your bluff
Take my hand and hold me tight
I can feel something comin' tonight.

Well I guess I'll go upstairs
And pretend I care
It's just another night
Of playing Show and Tell

You can depend on me
I'll never set you free
Settle down and you'll see
Just how mean I can be

So I sit with this drink in my hand
I still can't seem to understand
This game seems all to real
Win or lose it's not big deal

Whatever happened to
The love that we once knew
Gonna find it again
If we have to fight all night

Gonna smash everything in sight
Then tell you everything's alright
It's just another night
Of playing Show and Tell

Not Exactly ...
My style at first but I dig the choppy trem guitar and lyrics. I also loved the Organ part with the more emphatic vox / drums. Definitely an interesting track that I think sounds good. Always fun to get new toys, enjoy Logic.

Thanks
I guess I could say it's not exactly my style either, but I'm actually not sure what my style is. I'm musically ADHD I'm afraid.

Mr Beef
Dude!
Sweet!
I listened to this with headphones (which I normally don't do) That bloop noise that pans around is freaky man.

I dig the chorus. That's pretty sweet.

Nice production.

Sounds like you have a pretty good start on Logic Pro.

Nice one.

cool
i love the spaghetti western guitar with that moody backdrop. really cool, and that feeling of slowing down when the drums come in is a sweet idea. this is right up my alley. sounds like you're doing fine with Logic.

Thanks
The drums were the last instrument I recorded, which is opposite of how I usually do things. I can't wait until I can fly the drums in via MIDI. Anyhow, thanks for dropping by.

Wow!
It took me a whole lot longer than a week before I was able to even figure out Logic enough to record, much lees be able to do anything like this. I can't wait to hear what you come up with once you really get it down. :)

Yeah, I feel like I've only scratched the surface. Once I get my drums and synths dialed in via MIDI, then I'll be ready to start really exploring. Thanks for dropping by.

I love the chorus man. Dig it.

Vocals are my weakest instrument, so i was just happy they were (mostly) in tune. Plus, I just buried them in the organs...it's all good. =) Thanks for dropping by.

Even with those..
bleeps and heavily tremoloed guitar, and even the Ennio Morricone spagetti western stylings and a little french accordian interlude .. that jump in vocal register from the intro to the refrain just made me think of Roger Waters and PF, though you have a bit of Joe Strummer in you somewhere. Fine mix, well made song- seems your fast learning Logic. Keep it up.

Slice of life lyrics are cool.
I like the tremolo guitar, and the blips are a cool touch. When the drums kick in it sounds Floydian. I like your vocals in the higher register.

I likey that . It reminds me of Pink Floyd :-)
I love the shimmery guitar.
Very unique mix of sounds.
Oh nice , there is a bad ass guitar over the shimmery one.
I like it , then it explodes like Pink Floyd.
I think some quirky fx on the voice here and there would be worth trying.
But as it is , it is interesting and well worth the download .
Thanks and well done .

Interesting stuff Jason
Love the chorus - takes off and then disappears, adding to the attraction. This is a very different approach to a song, and I like it a lot.

From a logic point of view, I think you have lots of the bases covered - one thing I'd recommend though is to get a copy of Ozone (demo available free at Izotope site) to get the mastering end of things sorted out. I'm really not sure why people find Logic so difficult - it's just GB on a small dose of steroids after all. I'm sure you'll love it.
Cheers,
Neil

Thanks Jig
I'm glad you mentioned Ozone. I was planning on buying it after my next payday, but admittedly I'm nervous about dropping that amount of cash. Your endorsement helps to ease that nervousness.

Regarding Logic, you're right, many of the procedures are similar to GB. My complications are arising from trying to get my controller, synths, and drum kit to all talk to each other. For example, I want to play and record beats, and then take advantage of my synth's filters and envelopes. I also want to be able to use my controller's keyboard to control my rack mount synths. For someone who hasn't used MIDI very much, it's intimidating.

Thanks for dropping by. =)

creative freefire CB. I like it. From a mix standpoint I think you're rocketing along the LP curve. The chorus was monumental. I too picked up a Roger Waters vibe.

What a cool
headphone experience! The vibrato rules, "take my hand and hold me tight, I can feel something coming tonight" classic. When it kicks in it kicks in! wow there is such great separation in this, the mix is very clear ! Love it! Downloaded

Welcome to Logic Pro
I've been using it for years and find it the best tool for production. Great guitar tones. I like the tune quite a bit after the organ comes in. The panning sonar thing is a little distracting. I can see what you are going for, but it would have been better a little further back in the mix. I like the lyrics and that tremolo guitar sounds wonderful.

I envy you Jason!
Hoping to upgrade to Logic Pro myself eventually. Haven't any constructive criticism as I'm still trying to figure out LE7!

Love that trippy panned beginning.

Tremeloed guitars sound great. Bit of a secret agent man feel here which lends a subtle air of mystery to the piece.

Fine vocal delivery.

"Well I guess I'll go upstairs"... Well that just kicked my ass! LOL

All in all a fine post. The song is good and the mix is too. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Be well friend!

Hmm
I did not like it too much on the verse but really liked the hook on the chorus. I think perhaps its because, while you have a nice timber to your voice and the vocals are expressive, you seem to be uncomfortable in the lower register but sing much better and have better control on the chorus parts. Maybe try singing in a higher key?

I liked the arrangement with the exception of the tremello which seemed too much. I think simple warm acoustic might actually be more powerful.

Thought the lyrics were the best part. They are effective and ring true even if a tiny bit cliche. Unfortunately, I think the vocals were the weakest part and a really good vocalist could really do alot with these lyrics.

Thank You
I really appreciate the feedback, and I agree with you on all accounts (vocal register, cliche lyrics). I'm one of those people that enjoys singing in the shower, but probably shouldn't get in front a mic (ha, ha). Cheers.

sweet track and the mix sounds like you are headed for some fun indeed. Logic is a cool tool. Really a great sounding mix Jason. Nearly a Pink Floyd feel on the chorus...excellent!

Great creepy long intro ala The Cramps in a way. Gotta love a tremolo guitar, just sets a real specific mood. Kinda wish the drums/main section continued a little longer. After it came in I felt all fulfilled. The organ really fills out the space. Overall the song feels a little up and down. Great tones and bleeps though with cool stereo pan field work. Logic is the bomb, get in there and mess around.
