Description
This is my 99th song posted here at MacJams.

Strictly speaking, this isn't my 99th song. Over the years I've deleted tunes, redone tunes, done collabs, etc. and, honestly, I don't know how many songs I've posted here. But, the current list, with the addition of this song, stands at 99, so I thought I'd mark the occasion.

The song has been in the works for a couple of months with the idea of it being the 99th song. The music has been set for a while, but the lyrics only came last week. It might help to explain that most of the lyrics were written last week when I was suffering from a virus and running a 102 degree fever. I cleaned them up a bit afterwards, but they are essentially in tact.

Music has always been important to me, but when I started messing around with GarageBand seven years ago and started posting at MJ shortly there after, I never imagined just how much more important it would be come. Music has been therapy. A way to express myself, my happiness, my sadness, my anger. Through my music and through MacJams, I've come to make a lot of new friends in the past several years and my life is very much richer because of it.

Thanks to all of you here who have listened to my tunes, supported me and been such great friends over the years.

Now, it's time to start on the next 99 tunes...

Lyrics
99

@2011 Joseph Gurner

Intro:

Rise up
meet the challenge of a thousand dreams

hold on
as they sweep you into space

fly free
and the stars will be your guide

spread love
and the universe is yours

Body I:

99 times infinity
the stars in space, like grains of sand

So many lights shine down on me
calling like a siren song

Rising up to reality
seeking meaning to it all

Open eyes see eternity
and the wonder off it all

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

99 times the choices we all made
find our way into the void

Faces washed through the waters of time
ancient seas of space

Fevered breath comes qucikly now
as time moves on by

99 times 99 times
99 through the sky

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

99 times 99 time 99 times 99...

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

Wander, wander, wander all alone
only the 99 will make the stars their home

I love the Joseph Gurner Choir.
Sounds like an important message...fitting for a 99th post. Great job on this. Thanks.

I echo the sentiment! GarageBand and MacJams have been life changing.

This song was striking right from the a cappella start. Great guitar lines. There's an element of prog rock in this that I really like. Excellent use of dynamics. High quality production and mix!

I agree Joseph,
GB, Logic, and MJ have indeed changed my life as well.

Beautifully done, especially those killer harmonies. Awesome production, and a very fitting so to mark the occasion.

Can't agree more, GB and MJ's have really changed my life :D) the best is that I found my lovely wife here but then all the nice people is something I don't have found on other sites. Great 99 song and I look forward to 99 more.

Joe,
I wonder how many of us have a similar story here at MJ. We are living the "NET 60's" here. More styles of music, each one influencing our peers and a community feeding and nourishing itself.

Your talent is evident in your music and may never have developed the way it did in any other way. I know that is certainly true for me. Congratulations!

Wow that into choir reminded me a bit of "Yes". As for MJ I'm a relative newcomer but the last 14 months have been a complete revelation. Hope to be here for many years to come and eventually get to 99 myself!! Cheers Mark

What an amazing production! Great song! Geez, what will you be doing for your hundredth?

MJ is quite a change for me, too. Having other people listen to my music brings another sensibility, and the feedback confirms when something is good and when it's just my imagination. In seven years, perhaps I'll try something like this! ;^)
