Description
So... I'm digging through some web art and I come across this picture I had created for a song called Gray_Grey... I forgot I recorded this... did some cleaning up and remixed. Another slow tune... I got some feedback from a duet of macjammers who had suggested I do more stuff like this. Macjammers, is that with two m's or one? Thanks for taking some time and listening...

Do you spell it with the letter "A" or with an "E"?

Cool tune
I like the slow tunes too. This one is really good. I like the guitar quite a bit. The over all feel has a really nice groove to it.

Hey John
I loved the trippy groove and vocal styling in the first half--and then that guitar work comes in (just excellent--a fine showcase for your prowess on that instrument). I think this whole package works just great--this spells all around fine work! Thanks again and take care now, Michael

I guess it CAN be spelled both ways - I like how this song develops - you have a slow steady build up of tension and energy, then the thunder - a perfect transition - now the wailing guitar - very cool! I enjoyed this tune a lot - thanks!

anyway you spell it sounds great. There's a hipster vibe (sorry couldn't think of another way to describe it :-) sort of like when the Stone Temple Pilots go acoustic. Your voice sounds terrific.
I see you've got experimental..but to me its a radio ready morsel in the alternative vein. Fuzz my guitar baby, yeah

If I could have it would have been Experimental Alternative Rock. Experimental because I was experimenting with the Jackson, Alternative for doing an un-plugged thingy and Rock because I find myself falling in that category. Your right though. Could have... Would have. Thanks for your kindness. It's funny how you can leave something on your hard drive that you feel is mediocre and find out later people like it.

John, I really dig this vibe...almost a Greatful Dead vibe. Subtle tones abound, and I love the use of varying levels of reverb that you used to give the song real depth. Nice.

I used a guitar template in Logic Pro. The template provided all the bus I needed to channel reverb. I'm always afraid of reverb getting out of hand. I'm glad this worked for you. Love your music and thanks for the kind words.

Experimental?
Definitely more pop than experimental, and a darn good pop song to boot. Very melodic, great solos on both acoustic and electric guitars, and the production is very good. Thanks for posting.

Different
Like a combo of Paul Simon and Jim Morrison! Really different this, in my very limited experience.

Good guitar, i can just hear Mr Krieger starting up.

Hold the attention from the first note.

Nice one, John.

A before E except after...
Hi John, Trippy indeed. The ambiguity of the title is nicely played out in the "A"coustic first half and the "E"lectric second half. Wow, I am tripping just thinking out it. Nice mix. Warm regards, Peter.

John, your vocals are among my favourite here at MJ - they are different and full of interesting flavours (a bit the way Vic Holman's are). Of course your guitar work is icing on the cake. Harmonies are great too.

Hello again
and thanks for spending some time here to listen to my music. There is more to dust off but sometime I feel I need to create something new instead. Pulling music off of the drive and cleaning it up is so much easier than getting the instruments out. Pulling the instruments out and laying new tracks is way more fun.

"Of course....
...some people do go both ways...."

There are bits of this, John, that are like Lovin' Spoonful trying to get psychedelic....

Very neat overlays of guitar there towards the end....
FEEL said 2292 days ago (February 12th, 2011)
Ed
I appreciate the comparison... it's kind of like A and E in Gray or Grey. They both work. You know I'm with you, I do believe that there are people who like it both ways. As far as psychedelic... it could have been labeled that genre. I believe experimental and psychedelic go hand in hand. Always a pleasure to read your views.

There were some different sound coming out of that guitar. I was shooting for something different and the dirty lead at the end had a short decay which I thought added a nice effect. 60's was a cool year and a lot of experimenting was going on. Thanks for your comments as always.

Greyish Grayish
Grey/Gray, actually both are acceptable. I'm a Scrabble player and both variations are legal. Ha, to be honest I find myself leaning more towards the "ey" for some reason.

Very cool song, the lyrics are so creative. Terrific music too, not to mention the great vocals.

hi john. i love the amused S&G feel to this. aren't you the guitarist on that seinfeld show? cool and quirky. your vocal delivery is very engaging. i'm not mad keen on rock guitar solos...but this one totally earns its place 'cause it's in the same vein as the piece. great track.
