Symphony No 46 Aurora Borealis - 1st Movement (Through The Darkness)

Get Flash to see this player.

This symphony plots a course through my childhood years.
I spent most of the time being scared of adults and was very quiet.
Demons would often visit with me and having said that, I would glorify the slightest affection shown to me, feeding from it for some time after.

A moving piece!
Dark spots, but also glimpses of hope and joy! :-)
Very visual!

Thank you KC...
for taking the time to listen and comment.
The whole symphony is full of such extremities and shadows my actual childhood experience!
Thanks again my friend.

Do you now know why you were afraid? Were you perhaps a very imaginative child who transformed everyday experiences into mysterious or threatening occasions? At any rate, to make music is a gift. To have emotion tied to memory makes it and the music much more real and important. Thanks.

Hi Char
Thanks for commenting my friend.
I was a very insecure child and I suppose that may have come from the fear of angry parents and subsequently the dark. I would often see things at my window at night and dare not shout out for help because I should be seen and not heard (a golden rule in our household).

You do
write and perform the most calming music Chris.... even the darks and dramatics have a certain warmth, which probably reflects your personality. The music is really beautiful and grand. Having come from such an austere background either weakens a person or gives them strength and I think you probably gained from it, as I had to do from a difficult childhood too; it made me strong. Hi Maurice
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and for a lovely comment.
This symphony may sound a little to dark in places but it really does reflect my experiences and all I do is paint the music on to a blank cavass. I'm uplifted by the thought that you had a similar childhood although I do feel for you too!
Thank you again...

Hi James
Thank you so much my friend for continuing to appreciate my music.
You bring a tear to my eye with your high praise and, although I say it myself, the best is yet to come!

really nice - soothing.
a fabulous one - once again

wow that sounds like my childhood -
i had a similar negative mocking low-voiced run-in as well - at 10 -

this valentines day we got a strong dose of radiation from the sun - and I heard that the Aurora Borealis was
quite prominant even in unusual places
on out planet.

Hi Scott
Thanks for commenting once again.
I'm not so hung up about what happened in my childhood, I think it made me who I am today, confident etc...
I kind of remember it as if I'd seen it in a movie now if that makes sense?
I hold no grudges towards my parents, it must have been difficult for them for whatever reason...
I think if i'd written about it in words, I would portray it in a more sinister light and I didn't want that.
Music, for me, paints a picture for the listener's own interpretation and that makes it so much more flexible than words!
Thanks again my friend...
