TECHNOLOGY
©2010 Gus Washbourne

I’m a downtrodden father
Who’s just been conned by his daughter once again
I bought her the phone she had to have
To keep in contact with her friends
Then she insisted that it had to have
Bluetooth and a hands free kit
A 2 meg camera and the internet
And a whole lot of other shit

Chorus
Technology be the death of me
I’m telling you
Technology be the death of me
Ain’t it true
I can’t even tum my laptop on
without doin’ somethin’wrong
I erased my disk and I wasn’t pissed
and I only had one bong

I bought for myself a GPS
To get from A to B
It’s full of maps and it talks to you
So you don’t get lost you see
They say it works from satellites
Now that’s a bloody laugh
I’m the only man in history
To disappear up my own arse

Chorus

I acquired for my family a new flat screen
HD tv set
They say the bloody picture
Is the best you’ll ever get
The Blueray player has a hard drive recorder
But that’s not where I’m at
It only means you can record
300 hours of crap

Chorus

The lyrics on this are a crackup Gus!
Definitely one of your best mate. Glad we could get it recorded so easily.
Your enunciation on "arse" is a classic :)
Cheers,
Neil

Great fun, this! Reminds me of Chuck Berry, the way that the guitar leads the rhythm so well.

Good piece of music, the way it is put together. Sounds live.

Much enjoyed. Thanks.

Live in the Shed has got a whole lot more fun since I finally figured out how to make the Presonus FireStudio Project do what I tell it to. We have it down to the point where we can just switch it on and let it run for 3 hours while we do our usual rehearsal. The real secret of the simplicity and quality sounds is the v-drums - perfect drum sound every time with NO MICs! Only mics are on vocals plus one each on Gus and my amps. Chris has a line in for bass. The only work I have to really do in production is a little panning, a little volume adjustment and a touch of Ozone. A no-brainer now (which is good for me, having about that much brainpower left!).
Gus writes some interesting lyrics.
:)
Thanks for the listen.

Forgot to mention
the other big improvement in The Shed - our new PA which we use for foldback for vocals and drums. It's a Yamaha 1000W beastie with EV speakers, and is crystal clear. It may not be the ideal recording "studio" approach, but we're going very much for a live sound.
Very happy with it really.

Fun song. Classic sounding riffs and that tele produces some nice tones. Band is sounding tight. I work with the stuff, (software developer) so I can appreciate the frustrations.

Hey Guys, this is a blast! The lyrics are a cracker and the riff is killer. The mix and production are also pro-quality. I might even use some technology to download it :-) Regards, Peter.

You tell 'em Gus! I was surprised my browser didn't crash while listening to this .. ;o) Ah the generation gap ... I remember being the only one in the house who could program the VHS recorder to record summat while we weren't in... my kids are now fast out-growing my computer skills... there must be someway to re-coup your losses in this relationship. Loved it. (and was listening keenly to the V-drums .. thinking of getting some meesel')

Ain't technology a bitch. But where would we be without GB/Logic/Cubase/whatnot. Oh right, tape recorders. And we can still play live....

Let's just ditch it all. After I record my next multitracked opus, please....
