Charabanc

Description
A memory took me back to the latter part of my childhood. I was walking along Scarborough promenade and always seemed to marvel at the sight of the old open top buses, the Charabancs. My mother would never waste money on such frivolities so I was forced to imagine what it was like. This made me look at the early Charabancs and I loved the idea!

subtle
subtle and grandiose and playful - as in
frolicking in the crimson clover all over again -
the key shift at 1:10 is refreshing -
as are the robust and subdues horns.
a magical tune really with playful and concise rhythmic placement !

Hi Scott
Thanks for the comment.
That's exactly what I was trying to put accross, a light hearted playful tune showing how wonderfully exciting it must have been.

All aboard!
Great fun this, just like a ride must have been. Went on a tractor drawn one once. Wouldn't be allowed now, i suppose and your mother would approve of that by the sound of it!

Liked it especially from about a minute in, when the ride really gets going.

The song sounds like a steam traction engine rather than a motor vehicle. Perhaps they originally did the hauling of these contraptions?

Nice ride, and i didn't even get touched for the fare!

Cheers, Christopher, much enjoyed.

just a bit of frivolity never hurt anyone
And this music definitely has lots of winks and bumps and giggles in it, nicely portraying a motor-driven romp through the countryside with a big group of friends. Nice use of bassoon there, as well as the percussion/effects. The musical ride here leaves me with a big smile on my face, hopefully your desire.... it worked!
