My Song Is Not Yet Sung - updated

 Genre: Acoustic

I have already posted this, and on the basis of comments made on that first version I have:
• redone the vocals to try to avoid overloading
• added some harmony
• added a bass line

I hope you like this later version - I prefer it! Thanks to those who made comments on my previous version - it helps to have others listen.

The original is http://www.macjams.com/song/67296

The photo looks across Half Moon Bay on the George Bass Coastal walk near Phillip island, Victoria, Australia. Beautiful.

My Song Is Not Yet Sung

It's quiet and a record plays
Another's songs
Of all that they have done
And hopes that they have won
And times they want to come
They're in the song

Evening and the days wants rest
From all its trials
And I have seen some more
Of all we're living for
As you opened up my door
I see you come

And softly in the colours
Of a memory
That sings about the sea
That sings of you and me
That tries to set us free
I see it come

It's quiet and I softly play
Another song
Of all that we have done
Of hopes that we have won
Of times we want to come
It tells me soft but clear
My song is not yet sung

Glad you like it, Andrew. I think the bass gives it a bit more structure. Thanks for listening and for the comments!

A worthy update.
Hi Philip. This is a really good song and the revisions you made enhance it nicely. The whole thing sounds a bit more open and clean and the bass has added solidity to the mix. Your vocals are balanced better in the mix as well. A worthy update. Regards, Peter.

I just had a quick listen to the original, and enjoyed the picking and the song. This sounds like a big improvement to me - you've obviously played a bit of bass before, and the guitars still sound great. The vocal adjustments and re-recording have worked really well too - this is a much more "pro" sound. One thing I'd think about is to look at editing out some of your breaths between vocal phrases - they seem quite loud here. It's an easy process in Logic and GB I think.
I'll have to look up the George Bass Coastal Walk - we do a lot of walking here (and a long one in France in 2009). Always looking for interesting walks. And P.I. is relatively near us.
A very nice song - very well put together!
Cheers from Pambula Beach,

I appreciate the detailed comments. The breaths is an interesting one. I tend to get in close to the mike to get that "in your head" sound, but one unintended consequence is the breaths sound loud. I'll watch that next time. Not sure how to edit them apart from adjusting the volume when they occur - is there a simpler way?

Good luck with the walk - although it must take a bit to convince you to leave beautiful Pambula!

I appreciate you taking the time to listen and for the positive comment - thank you!

The picture is from a very pretty piece of coastline - you can walk along it for about 4 1/2 miles (7 kilometres).

My Song Is Not Yet Sung
Pretty melody and nice picking. I think the song could be made stronger by repeating your hook "my song is not yet sung" in each of your verses, but I liked it as is.

I appreciate the comments on the playing. I understand what you mean about the hook "My song is not yet sung" - I certainly think that it's a good idea to have something solid that runs through a song. Thanks for listening and for the comment.

You have a very calming voice. Nice melody and good guitar picking ... real nice. Reminiscent of warm evenings spent at summer folk festivals I attended in the past. Beautifully done.

I appreciate the comments. I spent a bit of time at folkie type things, too. Did a lot of work in coffee lounges back when they existed as music venues. Great times. Thanks for listening!
