Mandy Throws a Hundred w Yordbear

Been away for a few weeks but now back with a new song. Yordbear created the music using a “mandolin” setting on his keyboard. I chopped it about a bit and arranged it into a song. With that as the basis I then came up with the lyrics. Re posted this after very pertinent comment from Jiguma on firsties. Hope this mix is better.

I guess the simple premises of the song is a story about a guy who watches a woman from his beach front house and tries to woo her by the cunning use of his instrument!

Steve and I have always referred to his mandolin and mandola as “Mandy” and I had the idea of cartoon musical notes flying out from the strings, drifting down to the beach and landing on the woman. A sort of “Who framed Roger Rabbit” mix of reality and cartoon. Hope you like it.

I see you from the window
At the top of my house
I’ve got to find a way
To draw you to me

You sit down by the shoreline
I see you every day
What can I do
To make you look my way

Then my fingers dance on eight strings
They make my “Mandy” sing
She throws a hundred notes
Across the floor

My notes they scatter and rattle
Like ancient ivory dice
Escaping through a window
Or a door

Mandy throws one hundred
Or More
Mandy throws them to you
Where you sit by the shore

They tumble along the roadway
Some catch a passing bus
Some of them just float off
In the air

Some scuttle down the alley
To the shoreline
And settle in the tresses
Of your hair

Notes. Get trapped in your clothing
Notes. Get stuck your shoes
Notes. Floating in the rock pools at your feet
Notes. Half buried in the sand

So notice please the notes
My Mandy sends to you
Collect them up and
Bring them back to me

Peter Gabriel eat your
heart out...evrything about this oozes quality, really top notch.....see not even a witty quip I is that impressd and made up.
Some great PG tones in the vocal and the structure is prog rock hit song ....if you get my drift....and when the keyboard can be made to emulate a Mando like this,well....Great job both of you.

The mandolin and strings are a real nice together. Enjoy the subtleness of the percussive textures. Great vocal mix ... just a real nice mix.

I am liking the production on this one, it sounds polished and up front.I see a few people have mentioned P.G, yeah, there is a similarity, not a bad thing at all, as far as i am concerned. Cool piece of art.
