Lyrics
Down on the corner

Down on the corner
Down on the street
The hookers and the junkies
The folks you don't want to meet

Living the low life
Always on the run
Die at the end of a knife
Or blown away by a gun
Down on the corner
Down on the corner

Down on the corner
Struttin' your stuff
Wheeling and dealing
Till someone calls your bluff

Living the low life
Always on the run
Die at the end of a knife
Or blown away by a gun
Down on the corner
Down on the corner

If you want to change your way
I say it's not too late
But it's not enough just to pray
I tell it to you straight

Down on the corner
Down on the street
It's dog eat dog
Can you feel the heat?

listening
while making myself some breakfast. while in the kitchen, just briefly, i felt like i was listening to the opening for some good old movie and this was playing while the credits were rolling. just had that kinda feel to me. think Bronson starred in this one.

nice intro cees....groovy. is that you in the photo.....leaning against the lamp-post?
cool signature KCG vibe....mellow, relaxed....easy. your music is the ultimate car stereo sound. digging the harmonies. you've got some synth brass going on.....let me know if you want real trumpet in future....steve hix is your man.
cool tune cees.

LOL!
cees does drag...NOT!!!

can't you see some guy at the beginning of the movie driving at night while smoking a cigarette or cigar (camera close in). City lights passing in the background. The scene cuts to some random city night events (drugs being dealt, prostitutes picking up tricks, a bar fight, etc.) Kc created a whole city aura with one specific topic.

Hey Julian
yeah, that was my virtual alterego, lol :-)
And brass, yes, that's hard to achieve with virtual instruments , and I aim for the big hornsection, which could be done in parts, asking different people, but i'm just too impatient for that, just wanna move on... my only collabs that work out easy are the ones with bingsolex, but he only lives 15 miles away from me.. :-) we've been playing together for more than 35years

Love the horn section KC!
Love the FX on the gtr. Tremelo is it? Has a bluesy feel. or is it echo? Tremelo echo? Whatever it is it fits and I love it! nead a screamin lead space in there... Vox have a Knopfler feel to them. Street sound.... Yeah I like it!

Yeah , maybe the song should have been a bit longer with space for a solo.. but I like my songs to be around 3 minutes (old school :-) ) but this time 3 minutes is a bit short I admit ....
The guitarsound comes from my old korg pandora px2 , tweaked that sound ages ago...

Nice and gritty!
You've got a good handle on the dark, urban groove... Good restrained choices on the horn arrangement... If it had been busier, it might have been intrusive. Well done!

urban sensibilities
as a suburbanite I did my share of slummin let me tell ya. but bako was and is a sleepy town with 3/4 the adult population holding concealed carry cards the criminals fear the citizens here and the cops shoot first and ask questions later lol. but we have always had a little seam and seed to add texture flavor and color ;-)

seamy. seedy. slummy.

love the fender Rhodes sound as a keyboard player I appreciate that board all I got hardware wise is a cheesy Roland knockoff from 1973 what plugin did you use? sounds baaaad dude in a good way! ya know what I mean! nice.

Yanno Cees...
Even though your home is quite a long distance away, I would swear you were from New York or some part of the East Coast. I grew up there and much of your music just has that inexplicable patina of just what it felt like living there and all the night life and mood (not that I remember any hookers, junkies and what have you--maybe I was too naive to realize it back then). Powerful, emotional song, lyrics cut to the quick and as usual, you delivered it with your always solid musicianship and vocal work. One of your best. Thanks again--and take good care now! Michael

When I was young I listened a lot to American music, bands like Steely Dan, little Feat, the Doobies, Orleans , etc, they've had an influence on my songwriting. So maybe that's why it sounds familiar :-)
Glad you like it!
