Guitars on a Rainy Day

Description
It's cold and wet - may as well play guitar. Just made something up and kept adding tracks till it was getting to overload stage (there are 5 here). Not all that polished, but listenable, I think. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed sitting and playing!

Forget the polish
This while I don't think any polish is needed sounds really fine to me! Some times those little things we try to polish away are what makes the sound feel real. Excellent! Instant download!

Thanks
I think you're right about polishing, Mark - sometimes it makes things worse (especially when it's just a piece of improvisation anyway). Thanks for listening!

The man with 5 hands...
Hi Philip. So this is what you get up to when you go to the beach? Nice, relaxing piece with almost a touch of ragtime filtering through. Can't wait till you pluck up the courage to layer 10 guitars in the one instrumental :-) Enjoyed (as always). Talk soon, Peter.

10 Guitars
Interesting idea! I tried 6 tracks, but it sounded so jumbled that I deleted the final one and just went with 5. Maybe if I knew I had to use 10, I could manage something... Have to be a bit more prepared - for this one, I was just fiddling, really. Could be a new MacJams challenge? It could end up sounding like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdLhRB4dJJI

Rain
Very tuneful instrumental track. Has a little Bill Frisell feel about it. Lots of cool melodic and rhythmic ideas. The electric lead (right channel) is especially tasty.

Thanks
Glad you liked it, John. The lead was the bit I fiddled with the most - trying to get something that flowed but wasn't too busy, given how much was going on behind it. Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment.

Very tasty
Hi Phil, this is a uplifting tune and a good antidote to a rainy day. The number of guitars on this works because they are all clear in the mix - nice panning! I wonder what you'd get if you just started with one guitar and then added the rest in subsequent verses - i.e. building up the sound as the track plays. The good thing about this is would be you could repeat the sections and double the playtime then we get to hear more!
Excellent track as it is though
Steve

Good idea
You've given me food for thought, Steve. I might try something called "The Day the Guitars Came To Town" with a different guitar every verse? Might be fun - might be awful!

Guitars on a Rainy Day
There seems to be a lot of rain inspired songs these days on MJ. Real nice pickin" Phillip and sweet melody. The layered guitars are very clear and natural in the mix. It was nice listening.

Glad you could hear the various layers, Stan - my worry with this one was that it would all become a self-indulgent mess! I appreciate you listening and taking the time to comment.

I appreciate your comments, Sarah. I do like the tone of that particular guitar (even though this time it was with a pickup attached, just because I was being a bit lazy about the recording and took the easy way out) so I'm glad it suits the fireside on a rainy day!

Glad you liked it Ronnie - and especially glad you didn't think it was too cluttered, as that was my fear with just adding tracks till I thought I'd hit the "clutter" limit!
