Meet the Dissidents/ Sax Mr. Fab

Description
Mystery horn solo by my friend Andy Awigze

This is from the "Where the Vacant Are" cycle.
"Meet the Dissidents" will make more literal sense if you listen to the "The Little Blue Dog" first, this one should start with a slight pause after TLBD finishes. OveraIl, I would suggest to listen to the cycle in the order noted on my face page, but you do what you think works best. Adding these two parts together yourself, over 60% of the data that represents the music is saved from itunes compression. Most of this is low frequency savings.

LUV the organ! this whole tune was like one grand circuitous fanfare. Andy's at his best again along with just the right tune. Fun for all! the Residence would be proud.

Thanks for stopping in, your comment is right on the mark. This one goes on the end of "The Little Blue Dog" and is a almost regal, just give her the pain pill...

No Math!
I can't calculate compression ratios and savings, but great work! Reminds me of the totally original album cover of the Residents of course!

Hello Mike
Mike, you can hear the difference. Play a tune in your DAW and then listen to the same material after you bounce it to itunes. One of the reasons it is difficult to do ensemble pieces is the quality of the low frequency fidelity is so poor at the volume in an itunes mix, literally, we can't hear how the thing is designed to sound, cos itunes changes the mix.
Thanks for your support, I see your getting to be a regular...

Hey. I like this. Short and sweet. If that can be applied to this multiple layered mayhem of a song. I felt like I hit a groove on this but was wishing there was more measures. But after your description and coupling with Blue Dog I understand it better. I like the mix on this.

Hello Andy
I think you hit a groove, dam right! The ensemble horn part is responsive to your playing literally conforming to the direction of your solo. The third Bb pulse you hear when you lay out the stab feel is solely a reverb thing. Just inside the Daug House stuff...lol.

This was like playing about 38 old records all at the same time...amazing.

Hello MJK
What are you doing here? You don't belong in the Daug's House. As long as your here, which 38 records? To understand this piece, you have to listen to it in context. Download "The Little Blue Dog" first, then stick this part on the end. This portion follows Jerry's grandma's hallucination.
Sorry, it's kinda complicated. All the pieces go together, like one long piece of music broken up for the convenience of avoiding the harmful effects of compression... See the face page for the running order of this cycle.

so yeah uh Daug
may I say, this is what we skweryl fans like to call pushing the perverbial envelope forcing ourselves out of the old box attempting to create something new and exciting that takes the listener to a bold new place where few if any have ever been, reminds me of Theoneous Monk, not sure how to spell that, but wow you guys rule!

Hey JD
Thanks for the compliment. This piece is very complicated, and is a companion to a much more complicated piece called "The Little Blue Dog". There is a grandmother chord, a complicated piece of tonality introduced by the harp at the end of TLBD. That form is the material for "Meet The Dissidents". I would explain this as introducing a box of crayons, and then starting to use the colors in whatever structure that seems to make itself appear. Then you didn't really ask. So one could arrange the pieces over and over again in different order, without having any lose of continuity, cos it's not about the structure as much as the tonality that is holding court. Thanks again. This is not for everyone...

Meet the Dissidents/ Sax Mr. Fab
I know I compare you to Zappa often (at least I think I do). And I'm sure you're aware of what a compliment that's intended as! This has that Zappa does big band sound heard on live classics like "Broadway the Hard Way" and "The Greatest Band You Never Heard in Your Life!" Brilliant shit Daug!

Hello Andrew
Never heard them... I just make what I am given to make. I am happy you came by to listen. Being compared favorably to Zappa is not a problem for me, I will gladly wear that sign... One of my favorite records is his "Grande Wazoo". That Big Wazoo band was my favorite. I'm just that much older than you lol...

Steve in the house...
So glad you enjoyed this piece. Hope this helps, I make what I hear. I write down what will happen, like a story board. Sometimes it fits on a napkin. Then I build the frame in the DAW, and see how close I can get to what I heard originally using all the tools I have accumulated over the years, then Andy, when he's available to work, changes the plan, and then we start sweetening...lol
