Description
This is a track I had originally created using loops and Acid Studio a few years ago and added a touch of piano to this weekend as I did not have a keyboard when I first slapped this together. Not sure what category this goes under--it is very weird and the ending is even weirder!

Copyright 2011 by KleinKo Amalgamated International, Inc., LTD

Artwork: I see H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allen Poe and I believe that's Houdini on the far left. Not entirely sure who the women are, but they might be ghosts from the looks of them.

WARNING: As a precaution, I have taken out a $1,000 insurance policy with Lloyds of London should the faint of heart contract the heebie-jeebies from listening to this (if you get the heebie-jeebies but were not already faint of heart as a preexisting condition, I can't help you--limited policy, yanno?)

Thanks
Nice to get a comment on this from you Vic! Actually, it was hard for me to come up with the discordant tones at first, but I got the hang of it after a bit (it was difficult as well because I had no idea where this thing was going--Routine #102B). You take care now, Michael

OK, I already saw Vic's "Shemp on the barbie"... hilarious. This indeed flows. You captured something going on for yourself in a musical moment. I like this, It calls me to listen. I like this...

The orchestration is extraordinary. As for me I'd cut the end which is rather inappropriate and disjointed in this piece. :)

I agree with what Narad said, well except for the ending part which I don't really mind... um much (after four listenings).

This is beautiful and the eerie movements is what makes this really interesting. Could have been a little longer with more eerieness!

Lapse....
Very nice Michael.
Shimmeringly dreamy.
This is the kind of thing that would sit well over some timelapse photography. You know, flowers opening, roots growing, spiders spinning etc, but not those slo-motion sneeze clips I see from time to time...
Not sure about the ending but, meh the rest made up for it.

I don't know why but I keep thinking of Bernard Herrmann and his music for "Citizen Kane" (there is NO resemblance or claim thereof to that great man's score), but I think there was some transitional music cue in the film that I might have remembered that put me in the frame for this number. Thanks for listening and hope you and your new bride are settling in nicely! Michael

this is very different for you, and i really approve of this direction. you know i'm a sucker for the discordant, melancholy, cinematic stuff. very well done and perfect for a short film. I think the ending is out of flow with the rest of the track too, but who cares what I think? nicely done.

Spooky...
There's a séance scene in the Ray Milland movie, The Uninvited, that this piece would be perfect for!
Creepy and Creative...I loved it!!
michaeljayklein said 2081 days ago (September 14th, 2011)
Ray Milland
It also could have been what he was hearing during "The Lost Weekend" (as an ex-boozer myself, I KNOW I would have!) "The Uninvited" is STILL maybe the best ghost story ever put on film. Thanks for listening to this deal--and hope you are doing well Lyn! Michael

Tina, I've not opened my mouth to sing for many weeks now although I'm working on refining a telepathic method of doing it (involves the mic wires being Scotch taped to my head and stuff--I'll MAKE this work if I kill myself trying to!) Yeah, this is not exactly the cha-cha, so sorry I crimped into your dance time (you dancing fool you!), but thanks so much for listening and always appreciate hearing from you! Send my regards to the family and hope to have something more peppy for you in the next round! Michael

High Brow Stuff
And what's wrong with high brow? :) This is a lovely composition and stands well both with and without the ending (and I do resonate with your humour here - nyuk nyuk).

A different side of your considerable musicianship.

Mark!
I'd say that Steiner, Herrmann, Rosza and Tiomkin wrote movie scores that one always recognized as being their work, but Herrmann was maybe the most distinctive (my favorite by him is the theme for Alfred Hitchcock's "The Wrong Man"--one of Hitch's lesser known films). Thanks greatly for listening Mark and thanks also for the very encouraging words on this thing. Take good care now! Michael

I'm telling you: dry ice! Basically, I took a little of something I remembered hearing in "Citizen Kane" and how it felt to be in the front row of the Ice Capades when my mom took me to see them as a child--I'm not kidding! Hi Michael. Nice change of pace. Cinematic with a touch of the Edgar Allen's. Glad to see you couldn't resist a change of mood at the end :-) But more importantly, where are the Key Words? I feel jibbed! Take care, Peter.

Hi Peter
I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of Edgar Allan Poe's work (although I tried, I tried!) but I do love the supernatural in literature and movies and thought I'd make a go of that in the musical line. I'm very glad you liked it Peter--thanks again, and take good care now! Michael
