Description
Guitar instrumental - Voices use an extended envelope decay . . . yearning - especially on refrains - maybe depicting those unfortunate 29 souls - crossing back and forth from one side to the other - the long decay on voices - a mirror to those relentless waves transforming minutes into hours - there being originally seven verses also explains the length here too - in a way - and I also pre-pictured 'ooze' buffering some of the twang - with there already being plenty of high guitar mids. - 'Twas a trial and error hit and miss thing after the guitar was recorded - and I tried a lot of other sounds until deciding on this custom 'Ooze' patch - it must ~ well it I am a day late in posting - as yesterday marked the 36 year memorial. I was there when it happened . . . stationed on lake superior . . . on the other side (marquette) well I do a vocal rendition of this as well . . . also a version with the exact lyrics but entirely different melodic line . . . it worked better this way - tuning to C# minor . . .

With a load of iron ore, twenty-six thousand tons more than the edmund fitgerald weighed empty.
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed when the gales of november came early.

Alvarez.

Low bass.

Danceable & waltzy for the most part.

Absolutely, achingly beautiful
Scott, you know I like almost everything you do but you've surpassed yourself here. Those "ghost voices" sing divinely and your playing is sublime. Thank you very much.

is there nothing you can't do?? this is really beautiful work. it's amazing to hear you were stationed on lake superior when the edmund fitzgerald went down - what an awful memory that must be - but the music you've brought forth from it iw gorgeous - thanks scott!

Just Beatiful
wonderful and masterful playing..... just beautiful.....soothing........ though I'm unaware of the tragedy you mention. Was this the lake mentioned in a poem "on the shores of Gitchigumi......'? regards M

The bell tolled...
Thanks for posting this, Scott. Really enjoyed it. I thought GL did a great job describing the tragedy many years ago. Great to see a few lines above. The subtle guitar voicings work wonderfully well. Take care, Peter.
