I'm Still Gonna Love You (with Jiguma, Loob, & Awigze)

Description
This song is one that was started some time ago, but it’s taken a few detours along the way. I was exploring different directions, but ran into problems with them and kept having to return to the main road, which everyone involved thought was the best one anyway. I’m sure my talented friends on this are glad I’m finally getting around to posting it. I feel a little guilty for depriving you of the really fine musicianship here for so long. Jiguma laid down a bass track that set us firmly on bedrock. Neil has an intuitive gift which I seek out often, and I’m sure he felt compassion for me when he heard my own feeble attempts on the bass track. I really started getting excited about the song when he sent me his track. The Loob provided a beautiful drum track, and I hope my mixing brought this out adequately. Freddy really moved this along with his talent and expertise. Awigze, the sax man, was a must for my song. I’d heard his sax in this song long before I met him, or even heard of MacJams. I should have known our paths would meet one day. In this song, I fantasize being a guitarist and doodle throughout, but I knew I had to have a sax in this, and Andy’s sax is like Jello; there’s always room for it.

I appreciate my musical family here at MacJams, and to everyone who has contributed to my songs. And thanks to my “brother” Jack (Davisamerica), and “Sister” Anne Cozean for their advice and encouragement. I hope everyone enjoys our song. It’s been a long time coming. Hopefully, it’s aged well. Peace. Terry

Jiguma (Neil Porter) Bass
Loob (Fred E. Jam) Drums
Awigze (Andy Wigzell) Saxophone
Davisamerica2 (Terry Pearson) Vocals, Lyrics, Guitars, Keys

Lyrics
I’m Still Gonna Love You

Well, I think I’ll take a walk down the avenue
I’d like to be at least a hundred miles from you
When you get crazy like this there’s nothing else I can do
But remove myself

And when you cool down you’re gonna feel bad
You’ll think you’ve thrown away everything that we had
I’ll let you agonize and think I won’t be back
That’s what you get for being cruel

But no matter what you ever do
I’m still gonna love you

I know every little thing that is wrong with me
I’ve memorized your list from A down to Z
I’ll never live up to what you think I should be
So I won’t try

But when we square off and tempers get hot
You better take a step back and see what you got
If my love’s not enough then you’re asking a lot
And there’s no reason to be cruel

But no matter what you ever do
I’m still gonna love you

Well, I think it’s justified you should feel so blue
Nobody has a right to do what you do
I’ve tried to understand, but I can’t fit in your shoes
And you can’t wear mine

You know you’ve got my love, any fool could see
And when you ask me for something, you don’t have to count to three
But I’m tired of silver platters that hold nothing for me
And I’m tired of you being cruel

But no matter what you ever do
I’m still gonna love you
I can’t think of anything you can do
I’m still gonna love you

No prob, Neil. I thought you were just making a rhyme. I often substitute "dude" with "jack."

This is a beauty Terry. Your singing is wonderful, as usual, as are the lyrics. And your bandmates excel at their individual crafts. Altogether, very, very nice.

I'm continually amazed at how MacJammers can transform a song. This one exceeded my expectations. They took it and made it their own. Lucky to have this band!

There are so many excellent guitarists here, I was becoming spoiled, and losing my callous' completely. I'll try and stay with it this time, but, man, what a crowd of talent we have here! Glad you enjoyed our song.

Oh yeah
Great laid back playing. The drums and bass works perfectly together making a solid foundation. I like that light hi-hat/ride rhythm approach on the drums. Makes it swing pretty good.

You sound relaxed and cool both singing and playing your guitar, and that sax is just tickling my ears with pure musical joy.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Thor.
I nearly missed that hi-hat in the early mixing. Freddy did such a great job. I wanted to bring him as far up front as was possible. Most adjustments to him and Neil were done as a duo. They really click well together. And I'll savor that compliment on my guitar playing. Coming from you, that means a lot. T

first thing is
I have lost my job behind the board. You were a bit timid about your mixing but this establishes the fact that you have it down brother. A really nice mix here. Really nice. Jello
LOL Terry...Jello- I like that... I am stealing that one! It's always good to collab with Terry and such a Wordsmith. I had Jiggys leads in the headphones when I recorded my parts sure made my jello mixing easy... Where would this song be without him? The Loob... always a pleasure! Let's do another!

I can't imagine this one without your sax, Andy.
I was afraid I crowded you out with the leads, but again, like Jello, you found room. And yeah, it's been quite a while since we started this song, but that is little ol' me on the guitars. I'm going to try to do more of that, but it's awfully tempting to tap the talent in this place. You guys are a songwriter's dream. Thanks for joining us on this, brother. Looking forward to doing more with you. T

I appreciate the kind words about my solo.
My weapon of choice was an Epiphone SG w/ EMG pickups. Had quite a dust storm on the first strum. It had been hanging on the wall for about a year. I've been pulling it down more often lately, and will try to keep the fretboard warm from now on. I really enjoy playing it and need to keep up the practice if I'm to keep up with this bunch. Quite a band! Thanks for downloading.
